Open to ideas

Hello everyone!

I am here to read about others experiences and get some ideas on where to have my wedding.

Yes, I live in Vegas, and NO I do not really want to be married here (well, not in a "tourist" type of fashion).

I will have to get married sometime in 2009 since it takes a few months to plan things.

I would like to have a beach wedding but am not unwilling to consider other ideas. An all inclusive resort would be great.

My biggest concern is how to address family and friends. Those that can't come along to the destination wedding will miss out. What do we do? Have a reception when we get back?

I am so uninformed and unable to decide the what, when, and where's! I've dragged my feet for a year and one month now and still have no date or any plans to actually tie the knot.

EVERYONE (including my future husband) continually asks me "when are you/we getting married?"

I say - planning a wedding is waaaay too difficult to do because I want everything to be just right. I am getting really superstitious over days, times of year, "good luck" dates.....EVERYTHING!

Anyway - someone give me a kick in the pants, because I need some major HELP!

Thanks & nice to meet all of you!

Cher

Destination weddings (in my opinion) are amongst the easier to plan... But you have to be committed to understanding that not everyone is going to be able to make it. Step one: Decide on a place and date - no matter what type of wedding you want to have, and do it quickly...

Happy planning, and we're all here to help :)

Congrats and welcome! It is up to you both if you can live without some people attending your wedding, some people do have a AHR when they return. We have decided not to and are going to have a catholic ceremony only with my grandma since she is now ill and can not come now.

Welcome to the forum Cher! Maybe you could start with a preliminary planning session and set out your budget, your wants (all-inclusive or not, mega resort v. small hidden gem, beach ceremony v. gazebo v. indoor), and a draft guest list. Try to pick a couple of places to research further to determine prices for both you and your guests, the weather, etc., and try to figure out who on your guest list is more likely to miss out. You could have a great AHR in Vegas, you’ve got some of the best restaurants at your finger tips (IMO).

Good luck and happy planning!
