DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

Are you going to be there a few days ahead of time? If so, have you thought about just going in to PV and picking up some cheap vases etc and candles?? If you are going to ship some things down definitely use FedEx or DHL. We had copies of our marriage certificates sent from PV to Alberta, Canada via DHL and they arrived in about 5-7 days time no problem. However it was $40 just for a few pieces of paper.... something to keep in mind.

Our center pieces are candles in glass vases. I think they have a better chance of breaking if I checked them as luggage on our flight, plus there is so much we'd spend a fortune in extra and over weight baggage.

ANY help is greatly appreciated!! cry.gif

We already bought all of it here and I really like it. I don't want to chance not finding something I like when we get down there, I had thought about that, too. $40 for paper is crazy!! I knew it wouldn't be cheap to ship but I figured it would be easier than lugging it all to and thru the airport. After asking around on a few threads, I'm really nervous about shipping. FI and I are now thinking we'd rather go thru the hassle of lugging it around then it not making it, arriving broken, and/or costing an arm and a leg.

hey guys,

i just got back from mexico this past saturday. all i can say is eleane is amazing. it's not my place to talk about esman but it was very unexpected and definitely unfortunate circumstances in which he departed. we were actually corresponding with him up until the day before we left (we arrived may 21) and so i was very shocked when eleane found me at one of the restaurants asking that i give her my dress immediately so they could take it away for steaming.

i will write something longer later but i just want to say that everything was amazing. the transition from esman to eleane was seamless and she was up to date with everything going on with my wedding. she was amazing and i can't thank her enough for giving me and my now husband the perfect day.

yes, it's stressful and frustrating when you have to keep switching coordinators, but remember that if you're stressed, imagine what she's going through dealing with frazzled and upset brides! again, it was an unexpected departure and she's doing the best that she can, which i must say, was pretty damned good. just have faith that it will work out. i promise you that it will! again, our day was perfect, and i am so thankful to eleane for that.

at the end of it all, we presented her with a card and a small gift to show her our appreciation for everything that she had done. she got all teary and choked up when she told us it meant so much to her to receive it because it's been so hard for her being alone and handling all this. remember, she's human too. (i know i read about the understaffing and i get that, but i just want to say it again, it was not expected!)

i think i'm still really emotional from the wedding but just thinking back to that, i'm so glad i was able to show her our gratitude and appreciation for all the hard work and doing everything in her power to make our special day happen.

as cliche as it sounds, (trust me - i hate cliches) it's not about the details girls. it's about marrying the one you love, and being surrounded by all the love of your family and friends. the details are great, but the day will not be remembered by that. people will remember you, and your love for each other. (yes, i know i want to gag reading this but it's true!)

as you can tell, i'm a huge fan of eleane. hopefully she's been or will be just as good to you guys as well!

anyway, just my 0.02.

You could just carry it with you then leave all of them there except maybe one or two as a keep sake for yourself OR give them away to your guests, then you don't have to carry them all back.... just an idea ;o)

m1984 -

Congratulations on your wedding. It sounds like it went off great! So happy to hear you had a wonderful wedding. Thank you for filling us in on the Esman situation and reassuring us Elane is just as good.

Dreams 2011-

That is what were planning on doing! No way I am lugging it to and from the USA to MX!! If my guests don't want any of it, I'll leave it for any other future brides.

Congratulations on your wedding m1984! So happy for you that everything went well and that Eleane was there for you throughout it all. I could only imagine what she has to go through with her job, poor thing, she sounds like a sweetie. Those little gestures of appreciation go a long way and I really think that we should all try to do this for everyone who has put time and effort into helping us, i know my TA will be getting a big bouquet of flowers!

Just wondering if anyone has looked into using an outside wedding coordinator at Dreams and whether you thought it was worth it for flow/decor etc? I already have most of my vendors picked so was considering getting one to help me with favours/decor/timeline etc on the day. I am from Canada and am worried about shipping things like vases and other breakable decor down to Mexico (that and like many of you have mentioned it would cost an arm and a leg) so I thought that an outside WC might know of a cheap place to rent these items from or could go check out the Walmart etc for me so I wouldn't have to worry about it from up here. Also, I remember Mishka Designs has wrote on this forum that the old WC Rebecca mentioned that the policies are different if you use an outside WC (see below), does anybody know whether this still applies?

I'm not swearing this will be like this forever. And I definitely think you should make sure you get anything and everything in writing, but this is what the new policy means today wink.gif. Any questions, just let me know!

Hello Dreams PV bride,

Me and my  husband + 36 our guests just returned from Dreams PV yesterday. We stayed there for 5 nights. I got married at Las Caletas this past Monday and not at Dreams. Although, I saw a wedding happen there every day.

Here's my recap on our first day at Dreams and pictures of the Preferred Tower suite and the hotel grounds. Hopefully some of you will find it helpful in your planning.  Here's the link to my blog --> http://healthycoconut.wordpress.com/2011/06/03/first-day-in-paradise/

Also, if you don't have time to eat at all the restaurants, I would recommend making time to eat at Portofino, the Italian fine dining restaurant they have in the hotel.

Overall, all of our guests loved staying at Dreams and they said it is one of the best vacation they've had.

Good luck to all the brides at Dreams.

PM if you have any questions.

~ Lea

• Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
