DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

Recommended Posts

Thanks for your well wishes ladies! My TA has managed to book most of us through WestJet, with other who are in larger cities through different carriers. The down side was that we all had to pay extra (some more than others) and we lost our 'group status'. So I don't think we will be elligible for a discout for booking a certain number of people. But at least my wedding is still on! Thank goodness! I reeeeally didn't want to postpone!

I'm so thankful to have this board to vent to!

OK, so I have to share this nightmare I had and thank god it was only a nightmare!!
Louise called me and told me there was a problem with booking at the resort. She said the resort had over booked by one room and she would have to move someone. She said since I was the bride she didn't think I would care if we were the ones that were moved. I assumed that we were being upgraded but when we arrived we were booked to stay at the Holiday Inn Express! I went bananas and then woke up!!!

On a brighter note, we've been getting things done. We booked our flights, ordered our invites, began getting some of the BM gifts, and bought stuff to make our center pieces. It feels good to be checking things off the to-do lists. woot.gif

Also, I was checking out Facebook and both Dreams and Esman have up links to pictures from recent weddings at the resort. They are beautiful and have helped me not feel so bummed out about going with the resort photographers.

It has been quite on here. What is everyone up to?

We finalized our menu about a week before we arrived. The candles are not included. We paid $40 extra for them, however, they are very small, uninteresting candle holders so if you have some space in your luggage I'd suggest finding some cute ones at home and bringing them along. We bought some really nice glass ones just at a dollar store for $11 total, but then decided just to use the resort ones for $40 so we didn't have to carry the extra stuff, but after seeing them we wish we just brought our own (and even left them behind after) as ours were much nicer. Just an idea.

I was also told to have the menu done 1 week in advance. They told me that if I do not have one set menu but have given my guests a choice then I must also provide a seating chart.

Good to know about the candles, $40 for little cruddy candles is not worth it. I know that there is a Sam's Club, Wal-mart, and Costco down there. We are undecided about bridesmaids flowers, I can't justify the cost they charge for them esp when they can't travel with them. So I figured we'd scope out costco's flowers once we were down there and if they were good buy a bunch of white roses or something and make our own BM bouquets.

That's a great idea kerrib. Just bring some ribbons and pins from home and you can have a fun couple hours with your girls making their bouquets... drink in hand of course :)

Regarding the menu- I thought we were only allowed to pick one option (unless vegetarian/kids/gluten free). Did you give all your guests an option from the 4 or 5 they offer or just pick 2 or 3 and give them that?

Anyone know if we can mix and match? ie. salad from one, main from another?

Thanks for all your help ladies. I love this forum!

I had already picked my menu, so I can help with that. We were allowed to mix and match; also, we could have two entree options, but we needed to tell Dreams I think 14 days ahead of time and give them a way to know who ordered what.

Also, I remember reading that you are allowed to bring your flowers home (another bride somewhere on this site asked customs on the way home and they said it would have been fine). They are not "alive" so it should be ok. It's worth trying anyways.
