DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

Thanks so much for the food advice. Filet Mignon was not on our menu options but I may ask what the charge is for that. There is only one steak option and it comes with chicken in a black pepper sauce. My fiance really just wants steak and no chicken so I may see if there is a way to do this. The risotto sounds delicious also!

Past brides (or presently more-planned brides than me): are the tables on the pool terrace round tables of 8 or 10?

You can have tables for 8 or 10 (we had some of each & had one table of 6).  I set up a seating chart on weddingmapper.com & gave it to Rebeca. If you're having assigned seating it's really easy to do. (just have to register & then add all your guests)

We had the steak & chicken w/ pepper sauce and it was really good. Since it's offered together you may just want to go with it - that way it gives people the choice of eating one (or both) since they're on the plate together. That comes with mashed potatoes & mixed veggies, which were also good.

We are getting married in a couple of weeks so I will let you know how everything turns out, but below is our menu which might give you some ideas:

Appetizers for cocktail hour: ( We picked our 6 all from the  Mexican themed appetizers)

Tostadas of beef, Panela cheese in chipotle sauce, Acapulco shrimp ceviche on on tartlets, mini tamales, mini tacos dorados, and sopes with Mexican Sausage

Main Course: (Surf & Turf) Fillet Mignon on a red wine sauce & garlic butter lobster tail served with risotto and vegetables.  Not sure what the first course will be yet.

Cake:  Thinking about the 3 milk cake and Ice cream is FI's favorite foods- so we will also have a ice cream bar as well.

We had:

Chicken fingers for the kids

Mini tamales

Guacamole, salsa & chips

Acapulco shrimp ceviche on tartlets

Sopes with Mexican sausage

DH & I really didn't eat any of the appetizers (just the guac & chips) but they looked good & all our guests said they were really good.

For dinner we had the poblano soup, which was excellent, then the steak & chicken, also really good.

For dessert we had the vanilla cake & had them add strawberries in between the layer.  It was soooo good, surprisingly good actually! They use a whipped cream icing, which was so yummy, & the cake was moist & super good.

We loved our vanilla cake! It was one of the best cakes I've ever had at a wedding actually. But, yeah, overall the desserts at Dreams aren't the best.

i had 8. there was definitely room for 10, but there are a lot of glasses/favors/plates on the table.

the chicken and steak entree was really good. i'm sure that if you ask rebecca, she'd be able to get one plate of just steak for your FI.

Hi! I'm new to this site and it's awesome! I'm getting married in February at Dreams...Is anyone else bringing in an outside photographer and having to pay the vendor fee? ($500). I know that this rule is fairly new and Rebeca said that if your photographer is a guest then you wont have to pay. Does anyone know any other ways to get around this?

If you get an answer to this can you post it here?  Thanks!  I know they have prime rib on the buffet menu too which I think would be popular.

Before I give you the pricing you should know a little background-we purchased the Ultimate package along with paying a fee to rent out Oceana for the reception.

(Not sure if that makes a difference, but might be helpful to note)

So our pricing for just the meal (Steak/lobster tail).. is and extra ~$9  for the guests included in the package and ~$50 extra for other guests.

I am not positive, but I think there is a full bar set up with a bartender. I think they use the same bar set up for the cocktail hour and for the reception.   The tricky part, at least for me is the timing... you are only allowed 4 hours of drink service and if you need extra time than the per head charge is really expensive.
