DREAMS PUERTO VALLARTA "thread"

That sounds so good! You're lucky, I have quite a few small town/farmer type guests, and I would never get away with having this exotic of a menu! The veggie option sounds great too... hmmm, I may have to rethink mine... Thanks for sharing!

  • GRILLED ARRACHERA DRESSED ON A GUAJILLO SAUCE SERVED ON BLACK BEANS BEAD AND A CORN ON A SIDE
  • POBLANO CHILLI STUFFED WITH CHEESE WITH A TOMATO SAUCE AND RICE WITH CORN TORTILLAS (This is the veggie option I'd like to have for my veggie guests)
  • FISH FILLET VERACRUZANA STYLE (TOMATO, VEGETABLES AND ONIONS)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they will let me do this. :)

I figure they can always order room service later if they don't like mexican...haha!  I love your program!! It is so creative especially introducing the "cast of characters"/bridesmaids etc.  I may have to rethink not having a program. ;)  Have you picked flowers yet?  Esman sent me a few photos but nothing stood out.  He said I could send him some ideas and they can do anything..(probably for an extra cost)

Thanks! I wasn't going to have a program either, but thought it'd be easier then telling everyone what time things start, etc.

I put off picking flower til the very last thing! I agree, I wasn't impressed with any of the choices Esman sent. I found these on his facebook page:

165635_177994475572556_100000860150793_3

and liked the contrast of the hot pink and orange. Thought it looked "mexico-y". :) So I told him I'd take these, just to make things easy! I just wanted everything booked, and thought there would be less chance of them messing up if I just picked something they had done before. We're going for all bright colors (as you probably saw from the program!) so hope they fit in well. I've got three ladies, One in teal, one in mango and one in purple. So it will be a veritable rainbow!

I'm doing the hot pink roses for the corsages and the orange lillies for the boutonniers. I just couldn't bring myself to pay the money for the BM bouquets, so we're going to get them from Costco or something.

Let me know what you end up picking!!

Your bouquet is beautiful!  Very mexico!  You got that off his facebook page?  where?  My girls are wearing different shades of blue and I think those flowers would look great.  I also like the gerbera daisies bouquets.  I'm leaning towards something like that with smaller ones for my bridesmaids.  I'll let you know what I decide.

I just got my contract.  Yay!  Everything I asked for I got including my 3 dinner options.  I had to get permission from the food and beverage manager but he said no problem.  I'm so relieved.  Now I can eat my poblano chili..hahaha

One strange thing..Esman said he doesn't recommend a bonfire because it's June and it will be hot and possibly rainy.  I confirmed the bonfire a few times and he never said anything about this until my contract.  I really want to have my bonfire or just a small fire.  It's what I planned to do as a welcome for my guests.  Now I don't know what to do.

Gerbera daisies are my favorite so I had them make bouquets with those as the main flowers & they added orchids & roses. I just told Rebecca I wanted tropical colors. They also made boutonnieres with mini gerbera daisies.

That's great you were able to get the 3 choices after all!   What's your wedding date?  June is the start of rainy season - we were only there the first 3 days of June last year and saw 2 bonfires & a wedding rained out. They moved the wedding to the Seaside Grill & it still looked beautiful though.  You might just plan on having the bonfire but if it rains, just move everyone to the lobby bar.

Due to circumstances we had to cancel our bonfire.  I was looking forward to that as well, but They have activities everyday at the resort taht are a ton of fun.  My guests and i enjoyed that evening on the beach anyway, and later had drinks at the sports club.  We also met every evening in the rendecous bar it was fantastic.  One recommendation I have is that if you go to the Oceana they serve an after dinner "irish coffe" iI forgot the name but the waiter puts on a show right at the table making the drink.  He lights the entire thing on fire.  It is amazing. Another option if you do not have children to worry about is a tequila tasting in the Portifino.  If you are a little more adventureous and your guests are too take the ride to Los Veranos to do the canopy tour it is wonderful.  The guides are fabulous, and when you are done the have a bar a resturant, some animals to see and waterslides as well.  The guacamole in the resturant is the best I have ever tasted!  The price is totally affordable and really worth it!

So glad you got your contract AND your 3 choices! Pays to be persisent, hey?

I found the photo of the flowers here:

Sucks about the fire. I'm a bit nervous about the rain... am hoping it holds out for us! But I figure, I've been to Jamaica in the winter and have been rained out, so you can't really depend on the weather!  I've been checkin the weather in PV every day, and in the evening it is still, like, 30 degrees celcius. Maybe that is a bit hot for a fire? Is it possible to "tentatively book" the fire, and just decide when the time comes? They sound fun though!

Thanks KarenM.  I love your flowers.  My date is June 18th.  I hope it doesn't rain but if it gets moved somewhere else that is fine.  I'm not sure what I will do with bonfire.  My wedding is on Saturday and I think they do a fiesta night on Friday so maybe we might just all meet there instead of bonfire.  It would be nice to save $300.
