Family to be making me angry!!!

Thanks to everyone for all your encouraging words. We are getting Married February 17th so I thought we were giving people pleanty of notice and time to budget this in. My FI keeps telling me we are the only ones who matter and as long as were there it will still happen. Haha Well I plan on being there and last I knew he was too :).

I agree with everyone family can bring out the craziness in you especially when there is a wedding being planned. This is both our second marriages so we have decided what happens it will be our way and no one is going to influence it!

I think it would be easier for me to deal with if it were a money issue for the family but just like some of you said it isn't. Unfortunately my soon to be mother inlaw loves drama and I think that this is now her new fix. See how pissed off she can make the noobie... well she is not going to get the best of me!

In the end I honestly think what makes me angry is that my FI's mother and sister have been batteling with his sister in law for years and that was one of the first questions that was asked "will they be attending" - then the other remark that was made was if all the rest of the family would be attending except for his sister then it is not fair because her family could not come - well i can not help that she insists on staying home and not getting a job even though both her kids are in school. The sister is always an issue in EVERY family decision when it comes to anything that has money involved, actually it is always about what will make her happy...Ugh! I thik I am doomed!

Good luck to everyone else that is going through something similar I know it totally SUCKS and I REFUSE to let them ruine this for us!smile123.gif

Great attitude! Melissa way to stand up for yourself and your day. At the end of the day your fiance is right. As long as you two are happy.... I understand that you're trying to do the right thing and its so unbelievable that they won't prioritize this. But enjoy yourself. Its going to be a really special day for you and your fiance!! best of luck!!

I understand what you are going through. The exact same thing is happening to us. We thought everyone was going and now suddenly money is an issue (even though the price hasn't changed since we told them and they agreed four months ago! It really sucks for my FI becuase I feel like he doesn't have anyone there for his big day and my friends and family are all coming.

Hope everyting works out for you.

Oh I sooo know where you are coming from.

Unfortunately for me FMIL and her new hubby are going lmao We've had the same thing from my family AND his friends and my response has been "oh shame you can't make it!"

We discussed a DW years ago and FMIL said (oh I remember lol) "now don't leave it too long because ** is getting on!!" I asked who that was and she said her brother!! I mean by this point i'd been with FI 3 years and never met him lmao My response "he isn't invited" that killed the convo lmao

She has been told in no uncertain terms to back off or i'll rip her head off - FI made me promise not to talk to her about it lmao

So my advice, say "shame" then promptly extend your right hand fold back your thumb and 3 fingers leaving the middle finger upright and shove it right up lmao gun.gif

We have been faced with the same issues. My Mom's side of the family has been all for me having a DW for years, and now I might have one cousin that is getting ready to book! FI's immediate famiy were all saying they were coming and his mom just booked on Fri and that is it. We leave in 2 1/2 months and it doesn't look likely for many more to book. I almost have more coworkers going than we have family. You still have some time and they may change their minds again, but just do whatever the two of you want to do, not what everyone else wants you to do!
