We just got the call we've been dreading....sunwing just cancelled their flights until the end of May! So our rooms are still booked just no flight for everyone!! Shitty! Not sure what we're gonna do yet, but I just had my eyelashes tinted and now my eyes are burning from crying...just to add insult to injury! LOL!

sorry to here about the banding of flights! were you originally flying straight from the uk to cancun or did you have connections? Are there any straight thru flights from the uk to cancun?

OMG I'm SO sorry for you girls going through all this drama! My heart goes out to Blkatz. I can't believe they are making such a big deal out of this. I guess they don't have anymore stories about the presidents dog that they have to scare everyone with the swine flu. I think I would be more scared to drink the water in Mexico then a flu!!

 

I hope everything works out for our Mexico brides, I'm saying prayers for you girls and crossing my fingers!!!

The problem is that a certain problem side of the family didn't get cancellation insurance...so the HAVE to go through air transat...so I either have to book a different air transat destination in may or push the wedding back to July.

The problem with booking another destination is that ...well that just sucks! and I will lose cancellation money.

The problem with pushing it back to july is that FI is just fed up and wants it over with...he is off work now due to seasonal work and that will be right in the middle of his busy season...which is why we chose may in the first place.

So I am stuck...srsly just stuck

Also...pushing it back deals with the possiblilty of losing my photograpers...who are friends and were traveling with us

i was with sunwing too and my package got canceled which essentially means i can't get to my wedding. been crying for hours now. i could try to find another location but i seriously doubt i could find a wedding time. we all know weddings are booked a year in advance. and i lose my photographer. ugh. worst day of my life. back to crying

 

i was going to go regardless, unless there was a travel ban. guess our flights be canceled was the other thing stopping me from going. damn swine flu

michelle, my almost-date-twin, my heart is aching for you. i know none of the options seem like any consolation at all, even if they prove *possible*. it all sucks beyond measure.

 

we didn't purchase travel insurance, nor did any of our guests, so if the same happens in the US we'll be screwed too. moving the date or the location (to dreams punta cana only) would be our only options for not losing a ton of money, and as you said, all those options seem like shit right now.

 

i know no amount of these will help, but anyway.

I know it is silly, but every one of my cousins has been married on the 27th of a month and it just felt right and I am having such a hard time coming to terms that it isn't going to happen. Even if we go somewhere else the chances of getting to have the wedding on the 27th are so slim...plus it is an INSANE amount of work to re book and re organize everything.

I have tried to stay positive...but now I am not planning our wedding...now I have to plan around everyone's schedule that can't get their money back and only have a credit with air transat...so it isn't really even our wedding anymore.

The worst part is the FI just wants to cancel the whole thing...just breaks my heart that he is so frustrated. He is really supportive and had flowers for me when i came home today, but understandably he is out of patience.

I'm travelling with sinwing too... We were supposed to have a stopover in cancun but that's going to be changing... I wonder if the travel board of Canada will offer protection to those losing out on their vacations/weddings!!! I really hope they do! I think it's called TICO but I'm not sure

I feel your tears...my eyes are so swollen! Good look...not sure if it helps, but our land packages at the resort are still available and there are flights through some other airlines. We're trying to book another flight tomorrow...just have to see what happens. I can't even talk to anyone without getting tears in my eyes, so typing is very therapeutic...thanks for listening....
