Are favors necessary at a DW?

Recommended Posts

We ARE doing OOT bags...do you think wedding favors are necessary/appropriate in addition to OOT bags? By favors, I mean leaving something at everyone's place setting during the reception/dinner, or do you think OOT bags are enough, and take the place of favors?

Tracy,

I have seen great ideas for favors here. Things like flip flops, to starfish necklaces, and photo frames. We spent $20.00 on each OOT bag and blew our budget. We did not have favors and no one thought anything of it. Since we've been home we got a bunch of thank yous for our OOT bags, many guests thought it was a favor! Good luck to you!

Hi Tracy,

We're giving gift bags to out guests but are trying to keep the costs down. We are giving canvas beach bags, travel games, snacks and other a couple of commemorative gifts. We are trying to keep the gifts under $10 a piece. It is definitely a costly thing but we thought it would be a nice treat for people who traveled so far to share our moments with us. It's definitely not a 'must do.' I don't think our guests are expecting it at all.

Hi - Yes, we are doing OOT bags - but I was wondering if you are doing favors (at the actual tables) in addition to the OOT bags?

I think with destination weddings, anything goes. If you're doing OOT bags, that's already plenty. But if you're stuck on the tradition of a favour, may-be spend a little less on the OOT bags so that you have some wiggle room in your budget for the favours. I'm doing both, but that's my personal choice. I definitely don't feel like I'm obligated to do so.
