I will be sure to contribute first thing tomorrow morning. We don't have a whole lot of San Juan stuff, but a lot of the west coast.

San Juan is quite safe. Are you sure you've heard those comments about San Juan, Puerto Rico? Because there's San Juan Islands, San Juan Capistrano, San Juan (in Costa Rica), etc.

Rest assured. San Juan is quite safe.

I also have never had any problems in San Juan. I have traveled the city by myself, am a fan of public transport and also have my share of 3 in the morning stories from San Juan, none of which involve any crime. Just as with any city there are some areas that are not as nice as others but overall I would say it is safe. There is also a large police presence, especialy in the tourist areas to ensure publuc safety.
