I would say no, annulled means the same as never being married. I would look into it to make sure, but I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Can anyone help my daughter who is getting married in Cuba next month?(Sept19, 2010)  She is trying to find an alternative to a package that the hotel is charging $650.00.  This package covers the documentation process.  She is looking for a different notary to do the ceremony who doesn't charge as much. She and her fiance have never been married before. They have their passports and will  obtain the Cuban travel cards.  But there seems to be more to it.  She is so stressed out .  Her email address is [email protected]

Anyone who has done this before or who is in the process would be very appreciated.

Thanks sooo much.

A lot of girls on the forum are legally getting married in their own countries (Canada for me) and then doing a vow renewal or symbolic ceremony at the resort. That is what I am doing and it is only 200 for the symbolic ceremony where I am getting married, instead of 600. There is no notary involved so thats why it is a cheaper. However it doesn't LOOK any different than an actual wedding...

Okay! Just want to be sure that I am understanding this correctly. Because my future husband is divorced; we must get his divorce papers, the English one, Certified by a Notary (any notary) and pay a fee. Then, it will be 48$ to translate it- Then it will be certified in the Consulate for 160$
What about the Affidavit of Single Status? Where can one get such a document and does it have to be certified & translated?

Thank you a bunch. Seems like a lot of trouble...might just get married at the court house first and renew the vows.....

We decided to do a symbolic wedding as well. I want to change my name as soon as I get home and I was told you can be waiting for your marriage certificate from Cuba for anywhere from 3 to 8 months. Then again, my friend got married in Canada 9 months ago and her name is still not changed so a lot of people don't mind the wait. We're getting married at the Iberostar Laguna Azul and it's cut our cost in half as well. I'm not sure if we'll get married at city hall before we go or at a church. What do you ladies have in mind?
