Which China Pattern?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!

So I just got back from my trip to Dallas and did some extensive planning in a short amount of time. I got so much done, but one of the things I'm struggling with is deciding which china pattern to register for.

I know that I am going to use the Blue Lace as the dinner plate, but don't know whether to choose Tobacco Leaf of Imperial Blue for the rest of the set.

My mom said that my face lit up at the Tobacco Leaf, but I'm just afraid that it might be too busy and bold, and that I might get sick of it later on down the line.

Feedback?

I'm torn. but I'm a decidedly simple-pattern person. If it were me, I'd do them all in the blue lace pattern.

Maybe think of the question differently. 15-20 years from now, when your kids are older, and you're hosting a big family dinner or a big formal event of some type, which pattern do you want?

China should be timeless (more or less), whereas your daily use dinnerware can be more fun.

Wow, I love that crazy one! I am all about colors and patterns, so that would be my pick.

But then I have to think, is it trendy? Cuz you don't want to spend a million dollars on trendy china... What about mixing the Tobacco Leaf with a plain one, so that it's more of an accent??

I don't think the tobacco leaf pattern is considered "trendy" because it's been made since the 1800s. It probably does go in and out of style though.

What do yall think about getting all blue lace dinner plates, half accent in tobacco leaf, and half in imperial blue? Am I totally over thinking this?

I really like all three for different reasons, the Blue lac and imperial patterns are classic and more of what you'd expect to see. Of those two I like the Blue Imperial better bc its classic but a little different. I really like the Tobacco leaf pattern bc its delicate. It almost looks like a Tea party to me. So in my mind it depends on what kind of entertaining you'd like to do. Best of luck!

Thanks for all of yalls input! My FI isn't much help, not that I expect him to really care what the china looks like. I asked him and showed him pics when I got back from Dallas, and jokingly said, "The tacky one looks like you, so just get that one." He's not so much on the bright things... Last time we were in Mexico, and I saw this amazing purse that was so vibrant... and before I even pointed it out, he just looked at it then at me and just gave me a look like... go for it. you know you can't control yourself... Hahaha
