Etiquette advice needed desperately!!

Recommended Posts

I'm so glad you called and extended the offer. I think Glenda said it well- just make sure she knows how important this is to you and how much it means to you. I also liked Ann's suggestion that you could offer it as a loan, as a last resort.

I'm paying for 5 of my family members to attend my wedding, all of whom said absolutely no way when I first offered (and actually the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th times I offered!). What finally got through to them was when I told them that we had already weighed out how much it would cost to do a local wedding with 200 people we didn't really care about. We would much rather spend the money to have the 5 most important people in our lives and spend $2,000 each on them than $100 each, or whatever, for people that don't really matter. That might be a good way to put it to your aunt.

If she comes back and is hesitant to accept your offer, you could get a little sneaky on her---- tell her you worked out something with your TA to get her rate reduced to (insert whatever she could afford) and let your TA know to book this lady's travel and bill you for it.

I have a sister-in-law that we may have to do something like this to get her at our wedding..
