Chocolate Brides: Hair Question

Recommended Posts

I am actually flying my hair stylist down. It may sound crazy but my hair is so important to me. When we went earlier this year, I had my hair done an it looked so dry. Now, i can guarantee I will look good. Costly, but my pics will last a lifetime, so will my memories.

I had a sew-in with spanish wave human hair when I went to the Cayman Islands. After snorkeling I noticed it begin to tangle the remainder of the trip. I found out from my stylist that the sea salt causes them to tangle. So keep this in mind. I may still do a sew-in again but take a deep conditioner to use after swimming. My other option is to do my own hair the day of the wedding in an updo. I did love the convience of the sew-in. I get too hot in wigs.

I guess we all want the same thing (pictures). I don't want to get braids either. I know I am going to get a weave sewn in and a pin up. I just don't want to wait until the last minute to get it done. I'm wearing a weave now that is sewn in I just need some one to pin it up. I think I'm going to try this for New Years and as soon as I do I will surely post the picture.

You know I did the same thing I went to jamaica and had the spanish human hair weave. It was looking sooo good. Then I got it wet and it became sooo tangled that it was a mess. I took that mess out my hair right there while on vacation. I thought I had gotten a bad batch of hair. Now I guess not it was the salt water thanks for the info. Clorine must tangle it also. I just won't be getting my hair wet until after the wedding.

This question is for the AA destination bride(or anyone that can help!) :.)

What do you plan to do with your hair?

::I posted this months ago and cant find the link::

I initially planned to get a sew in but think now that braids may be my best option for 9 days in the sun and sand. I want a style that will look good on our wedding day without having to sit poolside for most of our trip.

Past, present and future brides, post your pics and ideas here. With only 7 weeks to go, I have to make some decisions!

I'm still in the air about this. I think for me it's going to depend on who comes and can do something to my hair. I have never had a weave so not sure I want one now and I know FI may have a issue with that. I hope my hairdresser comes cause we are close friends but if not one of my BM's is pretty good with styling hair. So in my mind I want my hair to be out and Iwill get it done before the ceremony and then before one of the 2take off I will get them to cornrow my hair for the rest of the trip. But it depends on what your comfortable with, a sew in or braids will be most conveniet(sp), i just don't want my hair in braids for my ceremony and pictures.

And another good one about AA hairstyles: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t17345

(you know I had these tagged! lol)
Thank you! I thought I tagged them as well, but couldn't find them! Hopefully theres a few brides that have some good answers now!

My hair is about chin length and I plan to wear a simple chignon for the wedding itself. A friend suggested tree braids and I found these pics online that I like. The first is of the tree braids and the second is individual braids which is another style option.

I think that both can be styled nicely for the wedding and are low maintenance.

So okay, I had a hair trial done (sew in) so that I could learn to work with the hair before the wedding. I used Remy Saga hair (at 80 bucks per bag X 2) and hoped for the best.

*excuse the martini, lol!*

It looked amazing for two weeks and since I knew that I would have to maintain it in Jamaica I washed it myself.....bad idea. It took me over 2 hours to untangle and dry the hair. I had it in for 6 weeks total which to me was a waste of money. I was opposed to braids for the wedding but I may have to reconsider after that fiasco.
