Chocolate Brides: Hair Question

Hey diva, one of my bridesmaids is african-american, and says that she's going to have two run throughs before we go. Basically for the first one, to figure out what she wants (I've left all the hair and makeup up to each BM's choice) and the second one with the same girl to show her how to do it. The second appt will be the day before we leave, so hopefully the style will still be there, and she'll only have to do a few touchups. If the style falls before the wedding, she'll know how to do it too!

does the stylist make a huge difference when putting in a weave. Can anyone recommend someone GREAT in they NYC area.

Hi Tennyt1 - I go to a girl in Brooklyn. She is VERY good but I always caution that the service is SLOW. You cannot have any expectations that you will be out of there in any reasonable time frame, even if your the first! I went 2 weeks ago and was there from 10:30am - 5:30pm (my girlfriend was there so it made the time go by but it was still an all day process). Also, it does make a difference. I went to this lady and it was nothing like what I expected. It was not up to the standard that I am used to at all. I only went the one time because I paid the same amount that I pay for my regular girl and it was sub-par by far! So find someone your comfortable with and that knows your style. I like the girl I go to (minus the all day process) because her rates are good and she does an excellent job. She is very knowledgeable about hair so I have to trade one for the other.

I have locks and one of my bridesmaids was going to style my hair but she can't make it to the wedding anymore. I was thinking I could try to get it styled at a salon beforehand but I don't think it will hold until the wedding. I have no clue what I'm going to do.

Carmel treatment? Haven't heard of it before now, but I haven't been spending much time in a salon as of late either.

What I need is just help with tangles. My hair is really soft, not coarse, and straightens super easy (though at the first hint of moisture will revert) but it is THICK and there's a good bit of density up there as well. Someone who doesn't know natural hair would be daunted for sure when they see it. lol

Too late- I was literally in the process of opening the box when I made the post. I still have my curls, but now my hair is not so thick and doesn't tangle nearly as easy. It's not technically 'natural' anymore, but I didn't go straight, I'm still a curly girl, and it's easier for everyone involved to manage. *shrugs* I had to do what I had to do.

Wandered into Sephora while I was in Philly and picked up some Carol's Daughter and Ojon stuff, and I'm thinking 'where have you been all my life' I kept thinking that they couldn't possibly be both worth the hype but they were. *sigh* wish I'd have started using them years ago....

Remi Saga brand has a hair called "persain glam" sp. I wore it two summers ago its decent hair it has a natural curl in it and you dont have to put mouse in it after you wet it to curl it. It curls naturally not like super tight curls but more like a body wave. But if you want some nice hair I would check out Indian hair its definitely worth the money. You can wash it and reuse it again! I too dont relax my hair and the sew in works fine for me depending on the texture of hair you put in you might have to flat iron the front of your hair so it can blend in naturally.
