Grand Sunset Princess Resort

Recommended Posts

Hey peeps! Didn't quite know where to land this inquiry, some "ceremony times" threads seem quite dead. Our amazing photographer to be, Gonzalo, has kindly mentioned that sunset is Around 530 in Mexico in march. Unfortunately I set our ceremony for 4pm a while back at the GSP, and there are several other weddings so no way to move our time now. However, getting pics from 430 to 530 seems very tight for bridal party pics, family pics, and couples ones. I am trying not to let myself feel like I ruined this day (yes I am feeling dramatically bad about this), but I am worries about pics. Any input on this? Suggestions on how to work around this? Much thanks ladies !

I don't know what time your dinner is, but ours was 6 at La Fondue, which is very close to the Riviera Gazebo. Our ceremony also was at 4 p.m. So we did pics from 4:30-6 and we had PLENTY of time to do tons of pictures with the entire group, the families and the bridal party, as well as couple shots down the beach. We had a photographer and videographer who also were wanting different things, and we still had lots of time.

The biggest timing advice I can give you is to NOT do speeches at dinner but to save those for the beach party or reception. Four additional people were so inspired that they stood up and gave impromptu speeches. They were wonderful and I am so glad they did, but it meant that it was 8:15 by the time we cut the cake, which meant the beach party and dj had started yet we were still at dinner! We had Jackye move the cake after we cut it and she served it at the party. We ended up buying a 3rd hour with the DJ because by the time we got to the party we had lost 45 minutes of our DJ time. A different bride on here had recommended to me to do the toasts at the party but I forgot.

Hey there! Thx for your response angel1.gif

I posted this in another thread and got some great input about the 4pm idea, and appreciate your input too!!!

our coordinator seems to think in march that sunset is a bit later than 530, so thats good to know...Our photographer is Gonzalo Nunez (so pumped!) and I know he will work with whatever we have :)

Dinner is not set yet, as we are waiting on final wedding guest #s from WestJet this week!!! I believe we will choose La Fondu as well though, and I figured dinner would be a 6, like you!

Definitely understand the speeches thing - I actually was told that no speeches or cake cutting could happen at dinner, but after seeing that ur party was able to do that I was like yay! LOL. But I understand that waiting until the BEACH PARTY for speeches is the best thing to do.

We are still deciding what to do with the reception, but I believe we will end up doing 6pm dinner, 730 or so head to beach for reception (2hrs), with a dj/audio equipment so we can do first dance, speeches, etc.

Thanks again for all of your guidance!!

I wouldn't worry too much about it, you photographer seems to be really good so, I'm sure your photos will turn out amazing. Our ceremony is at 2:00 pm so, I don't have to worry about it. Maybe check with Memo and ask him if there other Gazebo is open for that time in case you still want to have your ceremony earlier. Otherwise trust in your photographer.. :)

Oct. 25 a little over two months... I CANNOT WAIT! - Yes, Memo is my wedding coordinator, he is really good... I get when you say it is really hard to get a response from him... so, I am getting quite anxious than, I ended up calling the Resort but his line was busy so he phoned me back.... I am originally from Mexico so I do speak Spanish.... so, it was way easier for him to talk, suggest and make arrangements. I can't wait for our wedding.

You should worry too much about the sunset... in Mexico is totally different than here in Canada so, your pictures will turn out amazing!!!

Here are the three elements we went with. Riviera Gazebo, La Fondue restaurant and beach reception.

As you can kind of see in the gazebo picture - resort guests are respectful and stay clear of the gazebo.

Can I have your email, I have a few questions regarding the restaurant.... TIA :)
