Grand Sunset Princess Resort

That gazebo (korenann's) is the Riviera side gazebo.  It can fit well over 60 people.  We didn't like it.  It is two tiered, so the guest sit in the lower tier and the ceremoney with a podium is in the upper tier.  I suppose it is great for pics, but for the guest, there is so much in the way that it is hard to see anything.  We had 53 people.  12 of us were standing, so we seated 41 people, no problem, and we did it all in the lower tier.  We didn't even use the upper tier except to do our sand ceremony on the podium.  It probably doesn't matter tho, bcos our guests said it was hard to see anyways, bcos videographer and cameraman were always in the way.  I think the Sunset gazebo would have been better, tho probably more beach traffic tho.

Hi RivieraMayaBum! Thank you for these details! I saw that in the pics, and wondered about the photographers being in the way in order to get lots of good pics.

So you did the riviera side gazebo? What about the other wooden gazebo on the other sunset side; would this hold 40-50 people you think?

I am concerned about something too close to the beach (sunset gazebo you said???) in that having people super close to the wedding is not something I want lol. I love the idea of a beach wedding, but when it's in a wide open area, chances are we will have people swarming.

The Sunset gazebo is on page 105 of this thread.  I think they can fit that many people and there is no beach access on the right and i think it is roped off on the left with a good distance between beach people and gazebo.  I remember looking at the sunset gazebo and wishing we would have picked that one instead of the riviera one.   We had our wedding late, like 4:30pm,  I think this was a good idea.  A lot of the beach people were heading in to get ready for dinner by the time our wedding was done and when we started taking pics.  The resort was also supposedly booked full the first week of April, but sure didn't seem that busy on the beach.  I think depending what time of the year you go, will also determine how many gawkers you might have.  I really wasnt a problem for us.  I think the gazebos are far enough away from the water that it is not a problem.

Hi There, We just received the first glimpse of our photos, some of which include pictures of the Chill Out lounge. I would highly recommend the chill out package - the venue, the food, the ambiance -- everything about it was wonderful -- and worth the price. If you'd like to take a look, our slideshow is up on the photographers' website: http://delsolphotography.com/riviera-maya-wedding-grand-sunset-princess-kc-05082013/  And on that note, if anyone is looking for a photographer, Del Sol was amazing to work with. They have a number of talented photographers, and we went with Juan. He was absolutely fantastic! Best of luck with your planning! Koren
These pics are awesome. Congrats on your new marriage.

Hi Mrs. Shoreytobe,

Thanks - we're loving the pics!

40 to 50 people can definitely fit! We had 55 people at our wedding. While we had quite a few people standing, I'm sure there would have been room for all of them. There was room for another row in the back and a couple of our seats were empty. :)

Cheers,

Koren

For the lovely ladies that used the CHILL OUT LOUNGE - can you fit a light up dancefloor and dj in the seating area? I thought I saw some pics where they fit the floor right in front of the main table, but wanted to check.

We'd love a reception area where we can dance the night away!
