Hey ladies!

Sorry, I'm super new to this site so I thought I'd introduce myself!

I'm getting married at the Grand Palladium Kantenah resort in January 2012.  I've also requested a date but was told that I had to wait until May!  I'm a bit nervous about it because I really want the 25th, since we'll be there from the 20th-27th.  We have 40 guests!

I have a few Q's!  (I know it's a bit early but I'm super excited!)

-  What are you ladies doing for the "dance floor"?  If you bring your own music, you can hook it up and have a dance floor in the private reception?  I really, really want dancing!  Is anyone getting a DJ?

-  With the private reception, do you only have to pay additional menu costs?  Or is there another fee?  And what are the private reception options?  And what are the time limits on a private reception?

-  What are you doing for a photographer?  Is there a policy on bringing one in?

...  I think that's it for now.  I really like the idea of having the cocktail time!  =)  Where are you getting the information?  I have the menu list and the package list - is there anything else out there?

Stephy, I wanted to let you know that I just heard back from Rocio today on the docking station/equipment they offer. She said they do not have a docking station, they have a wire to hook to the iPod, a speaker, and a microphone. Nothing more sophisticated than that.  She said if you want anything more, it is recommended that you hire a professional.

Stephy, that is all you need to play the music.  I just wanted to make sure you knew that there wasn't a docking station so if you wanted to use one, you'd have to bring your own.  The cord they have would plug into the iPod and then also into the speakers, so you'd get the sound.

I got a quote from Mannia (a DJ company that Rocio recommended, website:www.manniacancun.com.mx )  and it was $990 USD. for 4 hours, if you were interested.  I think we're just going to do the ipod thing...  we want to choose the music.

Oh ok, thanks Ellabaja! :-)

JND2012:  We booked DJ Mannia for our reception.  We'll bring the ipod for the cocktail.  We are having a mariachi trio stop by for 45 minutes during the cocktail but I still want music to play before and after they drop by.

OMG, I'm getting so stressed out as the days pass!!!  I still have things to get done before we leave... I just want to get there already!

How is everyone's planning going??

Planning is going really well for me.  I just want the days to pass already!  I have everything done, but a final play list and to get the songs that we don't already have.  Other than that, I'm starting to figure out the AHR.  Which, has become a nightmare as of today!

Are you doing a lot of personalizations Stephy?

We aren't going an AHR.  My family lives 10 hours away so we would need to do 2 AHR.  With the planning of this wedding, I'm fed up.  I guess my FMIL might organize something for her side of the family/friends but I'm not. :)  I feel bad sometimes... but, oh well.

Well... I feel I'm doing as much personalization as I would have done if I'd gotten married here in Canada.  We are getting external vendors for everything, I'm bringing a bunch of things as well (candles, guestbook, cake topper, favors, maracas, gifts for the bridal party... not doing OOT bags) plus we're getting menus, programs, welcome letters, petal cones, escort cards, etc. by a local design company... it sure adds up on my to-do list!  Almost everything is done... I'm finalizing the flowers with the florist (we went with Vanessa Jaimes), I have to work on the music list for the cocktail and the planning of the reception... other than that, it's just minor things like buying thank you cards for the bridal party, gift bags, making itineraries for everyone on the day of, etc...

I don't think there is anything wrong with not doing an AHR...  We have so many people who aren't going down to the DW, and most of both of our family lives local, so we'll have a good turn out.

I'm not doing A LOT of personalization.  We will be doing the white board guest book, we just received our cake toppers, we are doing the escort cards, we are doing OOT bags that I feel will have a good amount of stuff in them....  I really wanted to do maracas, but I don't think we are going to.  My only concern is the centerpieces because we aren't doing them.  But, it will all come together!  Oh, and of course the music!

Question for you ladies!

This morning I spent so much time on the Grand Palladium Addicts website and was looking through the wedding pictures they had posted.  Is anyone else having their wedding in the beach gazebo?  I'm curious if they do the decorations on the pillars, or if that's something we need to bring if we want it?
