I have a question...how long do you feel we need a wedding photographer for?? If anyone can let me know that would be great. I am trying to decide on that now as the cost can get pretty high. If anyone could give me their thoughs on this it would be greatly appreciated :)

Hello,

Our ceremony was at 4pm and dinner at 6:30pm. We booked our photographer for 5 hours. They arrived at 2pm and took getting ready shots and stay until just after dinner started. We had the cake brought out before dinner started and did the cake cutting then so the photographer could capture that moment and the first part of dinner. I would recommend determining if you want any getting ready shots and how much of the reception you want them to capture and make your decision on number of hours based on that. We probably could have gotten away with fewer hours (starting at 3pm), but we liked the photographer and package they offered.

Good Luck!

Hi ladies,

We just booked out photographer! We're going with Tamm's Photos. I was really impressed with her portfolio and the price was reasonable for what we get. Our ceremony is at 1:00pm so I need more hours than most and her package is for the entire day, which works great. She provides all the photos on CD, as well as a hard cover album of 100 photos. The best part is that she also includes a "honeymoon" shoot another day, so I might do a TTD session!

Now I'm getting excited but I still have 7.5 months to go!

It's just a big relief because all of the major things are booked and I already have my dress as well.

Good luck with deciding on your photographer Candice!

Congratulations on the photographer!! We actually booked one last night. We got an amazing deal as well for the entire day from 2PM till 10 PM. We get the CD with all pictures, a hard cover album as well with 50 photos though. He also includes the next day as well for a photo shoot.

Jennifer, we are getting married at 4PM too. How long was your ceremony?

Leanne, are you doing a private reception or are you doing an alacarte reception? Due to the repsonse with people that are coming we have to do a private reception.

You'll love working with Tammara and Grant! Great choice on the photographers.

Our ceremony was 20 minutes? We did the legal ceremony, so that included the time for document signing and thumb prints. I wasn't wearing a watch and not really paying attention to the time. I just tasked someone with letting us know when we had to be at the reception dinner.

Hello GP Brides!

It took me a few days but I read through all the posts (stupid dial-up!) and I just wanted to give a big thanks to everyone for all the great information!

I'm getting married at the GP on December 2, 2009 and will be there from Nov 26-Dec 6. While I'm new to the wedding planning, I am not new to the GP. I vacationed there in December 2008 and it was actually where I got engaged!

We stayed in the Yucatan Royal Suites and we absolutely loved it there! The flowers in early December are amazing for any brides getting married around this time. After staying in the Royal Suites, I don't think we could possibly stay any where else...having a golf cart chauffer you around everywhere makes it totally worth while! The entire resort is beautiful and very in tune with nature. We stay in hotels all the time and didn't want a resort with a hotelly feel. The GP is completely tropical and beautiful to stroll around, especially at night. The beach is very diverse with a section of coral for the snorkelers and a large stretch with no coral for the waders.

If anyone has any questions about the resort or any of the locations to get married, food, etc., please don't hesitate to ask!

Michelle

Hi Michelle,

I'll be getting married very close to your date, it's on Dec 1st. Where will you be leaving from in Ontario? I will be leaving from Toronto Pearson airport. How much did you and your guests book your package for? I got a quote about 3 months ago but at the time it was still too expensive for my guests so we didnt' book yet.

What kind of flowers did you see there in December last year? Do you have pictures? I just can't wait until our wedding and hopefully I'll see you around there! :)
