It seems to me like you cannot change the flower arragments and the wedding ceremony place (pergola, gazebo, church, etc) but you can add whatever you want like more centerpieces at the tables reception and more bouquets, etc but no sure about this...

i meant "at" the wedding ceremony place

Hey girls, for those of you who were inquiring about silk flowers, I found this website than has some awesome inexpensive flower packages, and she also can make custom orders. I ordered all the boutennieres from the site and the calla lily ones were gorgeous, so I have nothing to complain about. I might order my centerpieces and other misc decorations from her too, but I am still deciding on that sort of thing.

Grooms two calla lily Boutenniere from Budget-Bride $10.00

This is the one Jason chose and its gorgeous. Its very traditional as we are doing a very formal kinda black-tie sorta theme.

MY bridal fan

This is my bridal fan, I got it at www.spanishplates.com in the United states. I love them all and bought different white ones for my maid and matron, and silver ones for our mothers. I think it will look awesome in the photos, especially with the photographer I have chosen.

So super excited and our date is soooooo far away. lol

Sorry! I have seen these two comments now. Chrestena thanks so much! I had such a terrible micraine that it was hard to smile, hahaha and one eye was less opened than the other. But I did not want to cancel the meeting to try on my gown again.

The last time I was in Mexico I did not find the wine too bad, but it was a different resort, so more than likely it was a different wine. I will more than likely still go with the house wine, I really do not like the idea of spending so much more on alcohol and beverages when we are going to an all-inclusive, but I guess that is every DW brides complaint about the additional cost of food and alcohol.

Happy Canada Day to you too Bre!

Hi Liana,

well if i told you how many research I have made with the wine and champagne thing, you could not believe me! hahha I have lost hours and hours taking a look at this. First of all as you comment you are going to an all inclusive resort so at least for the weddings I think they could offer a better wine than that.

But what about the champagne? This is not included so what to do?

Suming up (because I do not want you felt asleep, haha) I contacted several wine stores and supermarkets in Cancun and Playa del Carmen. They sent me their list prices and they were the same cost for the champagne than in Spain if you buy it at a supermarket and the wines were more expensive. OK I understand this as this are European alcohols and they have to bring to Mexico. All are available to bring the bottles to the resort. You give them to Vanessa and no extra cost for anything.

But when we were trying to decided between some different wines we know from the different lists that we have, I did read some reviews at this website talking about other people that bought their bottles at supermarkets for their weddings and the wine tasted bad and different...

So then I had a different idea!! I saw that at some threats sometimes a wedding organizer named Yazmin de la Mora based at Playa del Carmen, answer some doubts that brides have. So I decided to contact her. She told me that when she organizes the weddings she has a national provider that provides the wines and champagne for this weddings. She told me to write her the name of five different red and white wines as well as with the champagne. So I did and now I am waiting for her answering as she is from last week at Mexico DF. She told me that at her return to Riviera Maya she will contact her provider and write me to tell me the costs.

I will let you know when she answers me.

But although at the end you are going to use the wine house, what are you going to do with the champagne?? I think 130 usd for a Moet Chandon bottle is a robbery... How many could cost in your countries, girls? Because here (and Mexico is a cheaper country than Spain) you could spend 40 usd for one bottle.

And the other ones that are at the list "Cordon negro" etc these are not champagne... This one thing I do not like of the resort, if you are Spanish you know the "trick" but those are sparkling wines very cheap produced in Cataluña (a region in the northeast coast of Spain) that definetely are not champagne and here one bottle of this costs 4 usd and the resort charges 70 usd or similar.... This is an aunthentic robbery and ruse...

Sorry once again, to clarify you more. The ones at the list

"Cava Cordon Negro Freixenet" at 35 usd (sorry I did wrong before, not 70 usd but 35$) and "Cava carta nevada" (this is also of Freixenet although it is not written) of 25 usd (in Spain this cost 3 usd each bottle) are "cavas" (sparkling wine) and not real champagne. The authentic champagne is only the ones that are produced at the French region named Champagne.

Here at wikipedia you can read what is cava

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cava_(Spanish_wine)

Really, I am not a picky one... but I cannot recommend you to spend 35 usd nor 25...

I am going to wait to hear from Yazmin de la Mora hoping she has sth better to offer. She organizes wedding of politicians and famous Mexican artists and she told me nobody complain about alcohol from this provider.

As you I do not want to spend a fortune in this!! If not, as minimum, I think we will pick up the champagne for the desserts and the wedding cake, but not at the resort, definetely not... hahaha

Hi girls,

Carlota, I love the facebook page and think itâ€s a great idea for us to keep in touch and share ideas.  I canâ€t wait to see all you girls photos after the big day and they are so much easier to upload to facebook.  I think I will also bury some knives in the ground as good luck for the weather as well J

Lauren and Carlota, thank you for your kind words about the bags for my bridesmaids, they are all finished now.

Lauren,  Iâ€m glad your bridesmaids dresses are starting to arrive as well Lauren, are you happy with them?  I collected my dress, and my bridesmaids and flower girls dresses yesterday and right now they are at my mumâ€s waiting for the big day!  Today I kept myself busy by making personalised hangers for the maids dresses.

Carlota, like Liana, I am just going to have the ‘house wine†and although it is not the best, people can order their preferred drinks as most would prefer to drinks spirits over wine anyway.  I wouldnâ€t stress too much about it, Iâ€m sure it will all work out just fine.

Chrestena, itâ€s lovely to hear from you again and to see some more of your beautiful photographs.  Itâ€s a lovely idea to walk the wedding walk again before you leave and collect some sand to keep at home, I will definitely try to remember to do that as well.  I really like the starfish for your rings, itâ€s really pretty.  Itâ€s a shame to hear the hostess was not very helpful to you on your flight.  I am preparing myself that I may need to smile sweetly and plead with them to allow me to take up some space on the plane, but whatever happens I wonâ€t let it ruin the big day.

Can I also ask, how did your dress come out after being in the sea?  I was planning on wearing mine for our TTD shoot but after collecting it I am worried it will get ruined.  We are having a party when we get home and I really want to wear it again seeing as it is so pretty!  What do you girls all think?  I have a beautiful gold dress which I could wear as an alternative for the TTD (although I donâ€t really want that to get trashed either!)

Carlota, I would go for an ivory or white ribbon for your starfish, I think that would look lovely.

Liana, I have also decided to use fans for my bridesmaids instead of bouquests, although I was thinking about having a floral corsage made for them and either attaching it to the fans, or onto their wrists.  Your fan is beautiful, I hadnâ€t considered getting a fan for me but you are right they will look amazing in the photos, especially the contrast of the black!

Carlota, Iâ€m sorry to hear Thomas Is not feeling well, I hope he gets better soon.  Itâ€s very sweet how dogs can tell when something is wrong and they just stick right by your side.  Iâ€d be lost without my doggy Benny.  Heâ€s a Lhasa Apso and the laziest dog you will ever meet!  What kind of dog do you have?

I leave in a week and 2 days ... countdown time :)

Liana we decided on a DW for the same reason.  My fiance's family is all in Alberta and my family is all from Ontario so it's a nice direct flight down to Mexico for all of us.  :)  Carlota, I am so sorry to hear that Thomas is so sick.  :(  That sounds just awful and I will be thinking of you guys and wishing him a speedy recovery.  No fun!  I'm glad the doctor has given him something stronger. Take care of him!

Thanks for your nice words girls!! We'll see how goes thourgh this night, hope tomorrow he will get up better!

Claire, if I was enchanted with your oot bags when these were not finished, now I have fallen in love!! If I was one of your bridesmaid I certainly would keep it and use it after the wedding!! They are soooo lovely and beautiful!! You are an incredible artist!!

Thanks for telling me what you are going to do with the wine. Some minutes after writing the last post here, my parents phoned me to ask me about Thomas' health and my dad asked about the wine... He is more stressed with the wine/champagne than me, haha. He has told me he wants to pay for them. Ok, good for me! hahaha... will see the costs that the local planner will send me.

Lhasa Apso! In my city there are a lot of them in the last year! Scooby (my dog) loves this breed of course when are female, lol. Scooby is not the breed of the famous cartoon Scooby Doo! He is a puddle, in 15 days he will be three years old.

Here are my two loves!

Good night everybody!!

Hi Carlota!

Your loves are both very handsome. I too am a huge dog lover. I have two cavalier king charles spaniels that it pains me to leave behind whenever I travel, especially for my big day next yearmsncry.gif But I plan to include them in the engagement photos and maybe a special touch some place in the ceremony. I am wishing you both much rapid health before your special day, that evil bug Thomas has made its way around these parts most recently, I am hoping for his speedy recovery. Stay healthy darlin, and I am glad that your father will take care of the wine situation. Try to unstress yourself! Is that not what destination wedding are supposed to be, unstressful!

Hi girls:)

Carlota, Oh I hope Thomas feels better soon!  Follow Dr's orders, and lots of rest for him as well...I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery!!  And I love the photo of Thomas and your little puppy!! So cute! We are huge dog lovers as well...we have a huge, silly Golden Retriever named Cooper, and a tiny chihuahua/dachsund mix we rescued. (Michael is a fire investigator and was on a fire where he found several abandoned dogs- it was December, and very, very cold here in New York, and this little dog was about 6 lbs and very sick, living in an abandoned building next to the one that had the fire, and he is now 14 lbs and very healthy and happy in our home with his big brother Cooper!)

Claire- I am so happy for you that your day is almost here!! Regarding my dress being in the sea...Yes, I too was worried it would be ruined, but then I thought...I am probably never going to wear it again and I really wanted some beautiful, artistic photos in the water. It was soaked (we went all the way in the sea) and loaded with sand and tiny shells. We stayed in one of the Mayan Suites with the outdoor shower, and so I brought my dress out there and rinsed it over the next 3 days in the outdoor shower. (I carried one of the chairs from our balcony porch into the outdoor shower and placed the dress gently over the chair each time I finished rinsing it). I didn't use any soap on it. After the third day of rinsing it, and shaking it (to loosen all the sand), I filled the jacuzzi in our bathroom with lukewarm water and soaked the dress. I gently swished it around, then drained the water, then took toweling and cleaned out all the sand so it wouldnt go down the drain, then re-did it all over again. Many times I did this. Then, when no more sand was showing up in the tub, I carried the dress outside again, and let it airdry for the next 4 days. It looks beautiful, it came clean, and the bottom hem, which was very dirty from the reception, became clean again. There was no smell of the sea because I swished it around, drained the water, and refilled the tub with fresh water so many times over the course of a few days. My husband thought I was crazy, but it was a labor of love! I wanted to see if I could save my beautiful dress, and I did :) It looks wonderful, and I am wearing it again for our reception here in NY in a few weeks :) I can only say about my dress, and i don't ever want to steer anyone incorrectly. My dress was embroidered silk tulle (very delicate) and this material did not get ruined from the water. I cannot speak about another fabric...like Satin for example...I dont know how that would hold up in sea water. I do love the photos we took in the water though, and I would have wanted them even if it meant my gown could never be worn again. :) I am wishing you the best for your wedding day!!!!

Sincerely- Chrestena XOXO!

Carlota- I have been so busy with work (I work for network television- CBS and FOX networks) so I have not had time to go on the FB page yet with an album...I promise I will this week!!!

Claire- here is my gown on day 3 of being rinsed in the tub :)  ha ha!!
