Welcome to the forum iamlizzygrace. We are getting married February 5, 2014, so we will be at the resort at the same time! We are staying at the Colonial and we too are having a 6 pm dinner at Portofinos. There is about 22 in our group and we decided to do the beach bash. Good luck with your planning! Kathy

Jen, to find a flowershop with good costs was a nightmare. I was really shocked about the costs they were sending me. So I decided to ask to Vanessa, my planner, and she suggested me Floreria Iris at Playa del Carmen. They have costs 3 times cheaper than other flowershops I emailed.

Iamlizzy, welcome to the forum! I think Vanessa is great! and i am surer that I was going to be happier when I met her. She is really nice, helpful and funny! Ok we speak the same language and this maybe permits that both are more comfortable writing mails. She not only is a good planner but she also gives me great ideas to save money or help me with other things that are not related directly to the Palladium.

I am also making the Las Rocas Bar party! And about Portofino I recommend you the sirloin!

Hello Lauren!!

I have missed you!!! Thanks for your kind words! You are so nice my Canadian friend!

I am happy you "are" here again! Great to know you are alredy living in your new house! This is so emotional, is not it?  And answering your question, yes! I am starting to be nervous!! hahaha  The days have flown away so fast that I cannot believe is only 5 weeks to leave and 6 for the wedding!

This week is being quiter, but the past two weeks were crazy!! Guests were phoning me and emailing me at least 4 times per day asking me the same questions again and again!! Some of them just contacted me to tell what other friends of them had made when those were at Riviera Maya (i am not interested! hahahaha)...

The craziest of all was again with the Italian part as they are all travelling with my travel agency here in Spain (in Italy the same travel was really expensive). So as I speak Italian and I have more time free at job than my fiancè to answer phone calls and emails they were driving me crazy about the second and last part of the payment to the travel agency, etc... Fortunately, this has finished but I am afraid that I am going to "hear" them some days before I am leaving...  Are your guests asking you all the time info you have alredy told them thousands of times? hahaha

For another hand, to be less busy has permitted me to continue with a lot of things that I had to do, related to the wedding. The most important is that I have found my sandals! I am so happy for this!

And I have been buying some other things as the bags for the oot bags, luggage tags (and making the design), starfish for the rings and coloured small starfishes for the card seats.

We have also decided the menu for the dinner (that we are going to have the previous evening August 5th) that Vanessa sent me. Being 22 people the menu must be the same for everybody. We are going to have supper at La Adelita mexican restaurant. The worst for us is that we did not have the option to decided the hour. Vanessa explained me that for more than 8 people the restaurant only permitts big groups to the wedding department and being so "many" people we have to dinner at 6.30pm! This is soooooo early for us, but OK what can we do?

Two days ago I went with Thomas to pick up his suit. I really love it as the colour is like dark sand. Not exactly beige. Now he has to look for summer boat shoes. Something like this (but in other colour). I am not sure you call this kind of summer shoes "boat shoes". Is this correct?

400

We were also working at the text for the ceremony sand. I thought it was great this text was in Italian, Thomas did agree and he is going to ask to her aunt to read it. She has a beautiful voice and I think is going to be a very beautiful and emotional moment. Thomas has just translated into Italian. I took one text from this website as an idea but we changed some sentences.

We have also receiving some presents (being money the most of them which is great of course, haha). What is the "typical" in your countries?  In Spain the normal has been always to open a wedding list in a store with different articles for your home, but from some years ago is normal also to add the info about a bank account number for those that prefer to give money.

And the last thing we have decided to not buy a kit for a ceremony sand. First of all because here in Spain this does not exist and for what it seems neither in Riviera Maya. Buying thourgh internet is good but the delivery cost is too expensive in my opinion (90 usd) which is normal because of the distance from the States or Canada. So I decided to buy things separately.

So, Thomas and I are looking for the "final" recipient (for the mix sand). Vanessa is going to lend us the other two recipients and we have token sand from one beach here. I have seen a great video on Youtube about how to color the sand.

And this Saturday I have the second try on of my dress. The normal here is to have 3 tries at the wedding stores. This time I have to carry my shoes for the length. I will try to make a photo so I can show it to you all! I am very happy with my gown as it is so fresh!!

So, many things I have alredy done! But I am still so many other details to make!!!

Busy weeks indeed !!

I haven't been on in so long like Claire work has been insane!  And we moved into our new home and now that we've been there for 3 weeks we're finally starting to put things together and I can start thinking wedding again rather than house. I have just read everything I missed and I want to respond to so many things but I'd need to sit and take notes lol!  Welcome to all of the new brides-to-be on the forum!  I am so happy that this is such an active place.  Although I don't know a lot about the new packages it is all the same excitement and confusion trying to organize for all of us.

We get married in 2 months from today!  61 days to be exact.  I still feel like I have so much to do!  I think we're pretty well set on 48-50 as our final number.  My wedding dress is currently en route from Ontario out to Alberta for me right now.  I'm in Saskatchewan for another 2 days for work though so I'm hoping I'm there to greet it when it arrives!  I can't wait to try it on, and then I have to find somewhere to take it to get sized.  I'm hippy, so it needed to be ordered quite large and my bust certainly doesn't measure up!  Lol!

Carlotta, how are you feeling?  You're getting married just before me so you only have like 6 weeks to go!  I don't know what this forum is going to do without when you're off in Mexico.  You're such a fantastic help to everyone.  Is there anyone on here who is getting married in the next month or two?

I'll definitely be keeping up from here on out.  I miss you guys!  xo

Norma, I dont have info about their rates for every flower, as I asked them directly for centerpieces, bouquets, bouttoniere, with specific flowers that I am going to have as orchids, hawaians, bromelias and heliconias.  They answer with the costs of each thing and I payed the 50% of the balance through Paypal (although they accept other ways of payment but I prefer Paypal). The email is this

and website: http://floreriairisplaya.com/

Do not pay attention to the costs of the website. They gave me best costs... also because I have ordered loads of things!! lol

Any doubt just ask me Norma!!

Oh wow Carlotta it sounds like you have done so much in the last little while!!  Yes, those shoes of Thomas' are called boat shoes - they are so nice!  I wish I could get Tyrel to wear some nice shoes, haha.  I did just order some nice boutonnieres for the guys - I wasn't sure what I would do to differentiate them from the others, but I think the boutonnieres are nice.  I will find a picture and post them for you.  They have already been shipped.  I bought them on Etsy like so many other things.

I also did read about and see your shoes!  So nice!  I am glad you found them and it is so exciting that you will be going to try on your dress again with them.  I am so excited to have the chance to do that.  I absolutely can't wait for my wedding dress to arrive!  I am getting very nervous about some of my bridesmaids dresses.  We are still waiting for 3 of them to come in!  The girls will need to get them altered too so hopefully they will come in soon.

I also still need to finish up some things with the OOT bags.  I am ironing on transfers so I need to buy some more ink for my computer to finish that and I think I want to put some hand sanitizers in too which I still need to buy.  One of my girlfriends will be coming over on Saturday to help me make some table runners which I would like to bring for the tables at the reception.

We have had wedding showers the last 3 weekends in Ontario (I flew home for that) and then out here at Tyrel's family's house as well as at my aunt's house.  Here we do like you do in Spain where we make a registry at a store and most people will purchase things for our house.  Our problem is that we have about 6 sets of measuring spoons and cups and no one got gift receipts so I can't return them.  And we still need towels haha.  I am so appreciative because we have been able to get a lot of new things for our house.  But I feel like I've been writing thank you cards for weeks!  My fingers have dents in them from holding a pen so hard!  Most people at my shower in Ontario gave money or gift cards which was nice because they were much easier to carry back on the plane than it would have been if people got big gifts and dishes, etc.

To answer your other question, yes some people have been asking me lots of questions!  Mostly I feel like I don't know the answer.  I feel like I am planning a lot but at the same time I know that I can not plan too much because things will probably go a different way than I imagine once I am there.  About your 6:30pm dinner time, that is a great time for me but I know that it is so early for you!  I heard that things always run later anyway, so maybe it will be pushed back a bit, although I guess you'd still have to be there for that time.

I have also just started a crazy stupid new diet.  I don't know why I left it so long to 2 months before the wedding!  I know I will look gorgeous in my wedding dress because it is impossible not to, but I am worried about being 20 pounds overweight when I have to wear a bikini around my family and friends all week in Mexico!  Haha :)  It has been really hard to be eating so healthy especially since it is the summer and everyone keeps having BBQ's and beer and I can't indulge.  I am going to eat SOOOO much in Mexico!

I need to start thinking about the words for the ceremony too like you are.  We are not doing a sand ceremony but I think we are doing a blessing of the hands?  One of my girlfriends will read that.  I also still need a basket for my flower girl and a pillow or something for the ring bearer to use too.  Are you having a flower girl and ring bearer?  What will they be using?

Well, back to writing thank you cards!  Talk to you soon!

Lauren

Thank you ladies for sharing so many fun details!

Carlota - I will look at Floreria Iris! Thank you for the tip!

It is fun to hear about your planning and all the details falling into place.  I'm excited about your dress fitting!

Lauren - I have gotten advice from several friends that you lose weight the weeks just before the wedding without trying from all the last minute plans and items that need to get done. I guess running around leaves little time for eating and burns lots of calories!  Two friends had their final fittings and then lost more weight and had to safety pin their dress!

Hi Norma,

I don't have a direct response about the differences, but Palladium Addict has this description:

This Grand Palladium Resort consists of the Kantenah, Colonial, White Sands, Riviera and Royal sections. All of these sections offer the most modern and luxurious facilities for their guests, including the state of the art Zentropía Palladium Spa & Wellness. Grand Palladium Riviera Maya is a vast ecological wonderland with wonderful beaches and pools. Each of the five sections of the resort has its own ambiance that blend to make a fantastic vacation experience
