At first we did not think we would tell anyone that we were getting married in Canada earlier, but now we've let it slip to a few people and it doesn't seem to be a big deal.  My mom knows, and if she's not ok with it she hasn't really voiced it.  I think she sees and understands all of the planning that's going into our resort wedding and knows that THAT will be the real day.

I think because we're kind of keeping it quiet, and making the actual 'Mexico wedding day' such a big party that no one will really know the difference, or care.s  To us, August 19th in Mexico is our anniversary, we're just signing papers beforehand.  In August is when we'll start wearing our rings, and be married.  Only the two of us will know that we're sneaking away somewhere in July for a romantic weekend, but although others know we're signing the papers then, the marriage is in Mexico.

I'm sorry I can't help with the beach bash, but I do think a few others have looked into it/or are doing it, so hopefully they can put in their 2 cents.  :)

Hey Amanda,
I don't think we're going to tell our guests that we will be getting legally married before we leave for Mexico, although my mom knows and my bridesmaids know. They don't think its a big deal but same as with Lauren, my fiancé and I are going to treat the mexico wedding as our 'real' wedding .. and when we get legally married we won't be doing anything fancy .. so Jan 2nd will be what we consider our anniversary.
I'm planning on doing the private beach bash & have it booked as of right now. I have wanted it ever since I saw the pictures and read the description. I mentioned it to my mom and her & my aunt really loved the idea. Are you thinking of doing the beach bash or??

Welcome Heather, welcome Amanda! I am getting married February 5, 2014. We have chosen to do a vow renewal instead of a legal ceremony and similar to others we will treat the wedding in Mexico as our real wedding date for anniversary purposes. We have told a few people we are getting legally married here. it doesn't seem to make a difference to most people, but I wish we had kept it a secret. We have chosen the Pure Paradise package as it had almost everything we wanted. I loved the decorations and Gerber daisies are my favorite. We also felt that for our purposes, it met everything we wanted and e price was right. We have also opted to to the beach bash. It sounds like a fun way to spend the evening and enjoy the surroundings for a destination wedding. Kathy

Hello Everyone!

I am new to this website and thread.

I have been browsing through all the information, and all seems so great and wonderful!

My fiancé and I will be doing our legalities prior to leaving for Mexico, and we are doing our wedding/renewal at the Grand Palladium Riviera Colonial on January 14, 2014 in the evening.  Has anyone been married here, will be getting married here and/or attended a wedding at this location?

We have decided to go with the Mayan Pearl Package, but still haven't decided on whether or not to do the beach bash because we don't know exactly how many people will be attending.

Can't wait to hear from you guys, any help and/or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Alyn

Hola GP Brides !

I've been reading this for a couple months now ! Really helps wink.gif

I'm getting married on January 6, 2014 at the Beach Gazebo ! We got the Vows Renewal Package since we are doing the legal stuff here before. I couldn't get the time I wanted 3 p.m...I could only get 1 p.m even if I asked for it 11 months in advance...hissyfit.gif

Someone else have their ceremony at 1 p.m ? I was a little bit worried on what we would do between the wedding and the dinner...

Thanks !!

Crystel

Just wondering if you had any luck adding a beach bash with the normal silver renewal package or did you have to upgrade to a Karen Bussen package to be able to add this on and was it $1400?? The only one I have so far been able to add is cocktail party around las rocas (half beach half salt water pool area- looks beautiful but bonfires arent allowed at that location so just waiting to hear back if adding the beach bash is an option. Also, anyone whos been there know what the best buffet to do wedding dinner would be? I have a choice between the one in the kentenah section or one in whitesands and just wondered if one was noticeably less busy. We originally had portfinio booked but have 56 going so now we need to change it to buffet...hard to justify a private 2 hr reception for $60 a plate... When the point was for it to be more cost efficient than a wedding here. Any advice from anyone whos done a buffet option?

Hello Sarah, I cannot really see a difference between these buffets, all were more or less full of people. I do not know if you know this but there is the possibility to make a private reception with a buffet for 40 usd per person. It is a little bit cheaper. Vanessa explained me this option last year. I do not know if it is still available with the nee wedding packages because it seems all very different with the new options.

Hi Ladies,

Just wondering what you ladies are thinking about sending your guests for invitation/save the dates as destination weddings require so much more advanced notice that typical weddings. I was thinking about sending out Save the Dates and wondering how much information I should send my guests.... Is that too soon to send the hoteland reservation information?

Hi Ladies!

I've been reading this thread for a while now as well and it has definetly been helpful!

I am getting married on December 4, 2013 at 4:00pm.

Our reception will be at La Laguna. Does anyone know if there are any other options for the dinner besides their set menus? I was hoping to have a couple different options but I'm not sure if it is possible to have more than one main course option.

Carlota,

Would you be able to email me a copy of your planning document as well? My email is [email protected].

Much appreciated!

Any help on this would be great!

Thank you!

Noah

Hey Amanda,

My Fiance and I are planning to do the Beach Bash too. I've got it planned to do all the formal wedding stuff at the reception in the La Laguna, then just have the after party on the beach. Since we're doing a formal catholic ceremony in the chapel and the sit down reception, I like the idea of doing something that is very Mexico destination at the end of the night. For us it was one of the biggest features we liked about the resort.
