Hey Lauren,

That's fantastic you managed to get it all worked out :)  We have found Vanessa to be great too especially with how quickly she gets back to e-mails.  It'll be here before we both know it!

If you look on the GP Weddings website it has quite a lot of info on decor and extras which is quite helpful.  I think we're going to take our own paper lanterns which Vanessa suggested as they're easy to transport and super inexpensive.  Where have you booked for your meal?  Do you have a big party?  We'll have about 40 so have booked Portofino based on the positive reviews of former brides.  Vanessa has sent me the menu for there if you need I can forward to you.  So far we have booked wedding, photographer and violinist but everything else to do.  Vanessa has also sent me bouquet photos if you wanted I can forward those too.  I haven't chosen colours yet so can't think about flowers at the moment.  Have you got a colour scheme?

You're right about the dresses, they do all look great! I've only been once, didn't find the one but saw lots of lovely options.

Good luck with your planning also, if there's anything I can help with just holler.  If you haven't already, you should check out palladiumaddicts.net it has a tonne of info.

Thanks Claire!  I was given the palladiumaddicts.net address from my coworker who is a former bride.  It really does have a ton of info!  I am going with a turquoise/light aqua kind of colour with sand/vintage kind of accents.  It's great to hear that Vanessa is consistently responsive.  She did send me all of the menu options which I think I'll have a real time trying to decide on since they all sound delicious!  Did she mention anything to you about vegetarian options or children's meals?  I'm not actually sure I have any vegetarians in my guest list, but just in case.  In that same email she forwarded all of the things you probably got too - locations, bouquets, etc.  I asked her a whole lot of questions in the response email too but so far I haven't heard back but it's the weekend so I didn't expect to.

I chose the beach Pergola location and a 4pm ceremony.  I saw that the sun sets around 7pm so I figured we could get some good pictures in just after the ceremony before dinner.  I wanted to know if they offer tiffany or wooden chairs as opposed to the chairs with the white covers and bows.  I have an aversion to white chair covers for some reason even though most people love them!  I saw in the Karen Bussen packages that they were possible but Vanessa said that they're not actually offering those packages now.  I'm also not a huge flower fan (I know, weird!) so I asked if I could bring some crystal strands to hang from the pergola like this:

For the reception location we haven't decided yet since we're not sure how many people we're expecting.  I am thinking 40-50 which is too many for Portofino (which is soooo beautiful I actually went to a dinner there during that wedding that was about 5 years ago) and the good reviews you've heard are correct!  I think we'll have to have El Gran Azul or La Laguna but both of those look nice too.  I asked how much for the lights that were in the linen hanging from the ceiling because I thought it looked really pretty.  I think we're going to choose the mariachi band.Do you know if there is an outside vendor fee for things?

Here is the dress that I've fallen in love with:   http://www.essensedesigns.com/dress-D1266 and the bridesmaids dresses I'm looking at, in turquoise:  http://www.bestbridalprices.com/bari-jay-bridesmaid-dresses-style-434-p-90671.html.

The next thing I'm going to try to start thinking about is save the dates.  I'm running on a short time frame, so although I've always wanted to make them myself I may just buy some haha.

Keep me posted on how you're doing!

Hey Claire,

I was just wondering if you could  send me some of the information that Vanessa has sent you. My email address is [email protected] .. I'm going through a travel agent who has told me that she will do all the communicating with the wedding coordinator at the resort but I'd like to get a head start on looking at some of the info if possible.. & considering I havent heard from the travel agents in a month or so I want to make sure they have everything booked, etc. That would be awesome if you could pass on anything for me to take a look at :)

Thanks,

Bre

Hi MyTye2B,

So glad to hear you liked the pics :)

Best wishes and all the best to you and hubby-to-be!!!

Hey Lauren,

Your colour scheme sounds lovely and also love the idea of the hanging crystals, they'll glisten beautifully in the sunshine!  How did you get on with all your questions for Vanessa?  Hope you got all the answers you were looking for.

We have also chosen a 4pm ceremony time although we're in the church but will head to the beach for a few photos afterwards I'd imagine.

I'm not sure about the option of different chairs, we're quite happy with the white covers/bow option so didn't ask about that. Vanessa had mentioned to me that we could book any of the Karen Bussen packages and our date is just shortly before your so maybe ask her again about that.

It's nice to hear you liked Portofino as well and it seems both the options for your reception are lovely too!  The lights and linen hanging do look lovely, I'm sure I did read a price for those somewhere but can't remember now.  We have booked violinist for our ceremony rather than the mariachi band, I think they were $350 (if I remember correctly).  I asked about outside vendor fee (for photographer) and Vanessa said 'the cost per day is 85USD, but I recommend just pay for their dinner at 25USD' not sure if that means you would just be 25USD?

Your dress and bridesmaids dresses look really nice, have you decided on those now?  I've still to go dress shopping again, think I'll wait till after Christmas now though.

How you getting on with Save the Dates?

Claire

More pics from Xcaret. They're going to be displayed on a postcard carousel which will be on the bar at Las Rocas for cocktail hour.

They will be our seating cards for our guests. I've printed them out in Zazzle.com and the collasible carousel display I got from Amazon.com. I hope Vanessa could keep up with my to do list!
