I have also been getting responses in a few hours, or the next day, from Rocio, which has been awesome!

Still trying to confirm we wedding date.. hopefully we have it all settled now.

We had to switch from Vow Renewal package to Crystal Civil Ceremony Package after fi accidentally mentioned to his mother that we were having the real ceremony at home... and she said she wasn't going all the way to Mexico for a "Fake Wedding"...

The joys of FMIL's! hahaha

We were just trying to save some money, no big deal though I guess.

I noticed that the GP has a wedding website that I never knew about! where was I? Palladium Weddings

I am just trying to decide if I should hire a DJ or just do the Ipod thing for my private reception...

What do you ladies think?

It would be nice to have someone to be in charge of the music so you don't have to worry about a thing.. But then there's the cost.. tough call.

Hi Meg,

At our private reception, we assigned the ipod role to our MC, but Erika pretty much took care of the ipod. It worked out ok. I sorta took over too when I relized that there wasn't enough time for the whole playlist. Whatever you decide, your wedding will be awesome.

Meg, I totally hear you on the ceremony thing. For us, it was my mother! We had to move our date a month later so we could have a legal ceremony. I'm glad now though. I kind of wanted to have just one ceremony myself, but I totally can see why so many people have a separate legal ceremony.

We also debated back and forth about the DJ thing, but in the end decided to hire a DJ that will also MC for us. I really just did not want to make playlists and all that, as I am not very good at it anyways and FI would have left it until the day before we leave! There are some good prices out there for DJ's though, although it is only for 4 hours!

Tamara, did they shut you right down at 11:00? Or was there any option at all to stay later?

Christina,

Yes, it's true. It will be nice to get it all done in one ceremony. My Wedding date is on a Wednesday, and we should be arriving on Saturday or Sunday.. I wonder if that meets the requirement of being in the country three business days before getting married. Are they very strict on that?

I am thinking I will go with a DJ too. I heard DJ Bob is really good, and relatively inexpensive... so I am going to look at booking him. Which DJ are you going with?

Christina,

They shut me down pretty quick. At about 10:55 Erika kinda started looking uncomfortable, like she wanted to tell me time's almost up, so I just told her 2 more songs. After the last song, like literally, right after the last note, they started dismantling everything. I don't think there is an option to stay later, but honestly, you'll be so tired. We were going to go to the disco, but just hanging out at the bar was such a good way to end the night.

Thanks for the info. Tammikins. Kind of what I expected, but oh well.

Meg- I would check in to the legal stuff with the Wednesday. I was told that if you arrive on the weekend, the Thurs. or Fri. are the only two days for a legal ceremony. BUT...who knows!

I also heard DJ Bob was good. I did get a quote from him as well as DJ Mannia and Doremixx (Ivan Gomez). Dj Bob was the least expensive. We decided to go with Doremixx instead though just becuase of the little extras he offers. They all were great to deal with, and responded promptly, and they all got great reviews.

What is your date, by the way?

Christina- I will have to ask Rocio about it. The Thursday, Friday only thing makes sense though.. I guess I will have to switch my ceremony date to December 2nd, instead of the 1st.

I will have to check out DJ Mannia too. Music and a good party is really important to me. I LOVE to dance! haha

Are you having a legal ceremony or a symbolic?

Although I am not an '09 bride, I do know that they only book one wedding per time slot. I was told this by Rocio when I was trying to get a later time for our ceremony, and couldn't. You should not have a problem.

Also to everyone here...I e-mailed Rocio a question yesterday afternoon and received a response within a few hours! Must have caught her at a good time.
Christina,

Thanks so much for the info!! We have had our hearts set on the beach gazebo...that being said I guess we could always choose something different if inspired that way once we are there!!

29 sleeps & 28 workouts before we fly!! Very exciting... only a few little odds n ends to do. Cut & glue pins to boutineers, photocopy birth certificates...pack...oh and I need to find white flip flops & a tube top!

Rocio has been great with resonding to emails & updating our file! Great experience!

Our only issue has been our beach pants didn't come in for the groom & groomsmen. They are a playa pant from undergear.com.
Do you or anyone know if you can buy nice beach pants for guys down there?? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!!

Cheers :)

Demetriosbride-

What are you planning on doing for your receptionhuh.gif I saw you are expecting 51 guests. We are planning on having between 45-50 people at our wedding, so we will not be able to get the ‘private reception’ offered with the wedding packages (which, while I understand why they have this rule…I’m a little upset about. We still have to pay the $20 per person, but just because we are going to have a few more people we have to pay more for a reception. I think they should be thanking us for getting more people to stay at the resort…but that’s just me). Anyway, I am having a really hard time justifying paying an additional $50-$60 per person for the private reception, and am wondering if you have any ideas.

Thanks!

-Sarah

Hi Christina,

I got the my FH and his best man and my dad thier pants at Tommy Bahama's, I was lucky and got everything for 50% off at the end of the summer. They have nice linen type beach pants and carry those styles year round.
