I thought I'd share with all of you...

My wonderful TA (TA Wendy) took a trip to Mexico for the last week and a half and was able to visit GP as one of more than 20 resorts she visited and was VERY impressed.  She said that it was probably the only resort they visited at had bus loads of people being dropped off, however because the resort is so big, it doesn't seem crowded at all.  She also said that the chapel they have at GP was the best she saw during her whole trip.  She was also able to see the beach wedding setup and said that it was very beautiful as well!

I have never been down there and down know about the rest of you, but it was great to have the opportunity to have our TA  visit the resort and give me her personal vibe on it, as she knows resorts!!

Ariadna suggested that we hold our cocktail hour on the terasse of the sports bar.  Has anyone seen it?  If so... does it look ok?

All of the other bars are open starting at 6PM... our cocktail our is from 5:30 to 6:30, which explains why we can't hold it at any of the regular bars.  We could also have it at Las Rocas but there would be other guests there as well as they can't close it for us.

StephyD- I am sorry but I didnt see the Sports Bar Terrace - I honestly didnt know that they had one. It might be behind it?? The wedding coordinators knwo what they are doing so if you explain what you are looking for they should give you some good ideas. Also, I have mentioned it before, and I dont want to rain on your parade but you might want to skip a cocktail hour at that time. The wedding etc runs longer than you think and you might only end up with cocktails for 20 minutes... Also,  your group might even like to get together for a short time at one of the lobby bars. They are really big and you can set up a bunch of chairs or hang around - whatever you like. It is very relaxed. We did this quite often and there were 20 of us.  It might be alot less stress for you and for the guests - they wouldnt feel obligated to go - in case they need to change or freshen up or anything... (and its free)

Also, for the OOT bags. What we did was we checked in and got everyone;s room number. When everyone went to their rooms, they had to get settled so we just ran around quickly and said thanks for coming , welcome to your room, etc and dropped it off. They do deliver for $2.00 each but they cant guarantee that they will get them right away. We wanted our guests tohave them as soon as they got there - since we had a welcome book in there that we thought they would like to have. :)

Any other questions let me know. :) I am happy to help.

Hi Dawnyekno,

Thank you for all the information as it has been very helpful in my planning. I was wondering what you put in OOT bags and if you purchase any of it when you there. I am trying to decide if I am going to do them or not and if I should get stuff in play de carmen as I will be there a few days before my guest start arriving. If you could give me any thoughts or suggestions that would be great.

Thanks again

Shortcake

Aaaaaaaaaahh... I so don't know what to do anymore about the cocktail hour!!!!  I'm expecting the ceremony|toast|group pictures to last from 4PM to 5:30PM... that would leave about 1 hour for the cocktail hour (if you add transportation and make sure everyone is set and ready for the reception at 7PM).  I agree it doesn't leave a lot of time and that people could do whatever they want... but I feel that if we don't have a set schedule, people will just go back to their rooms, do their own thing and won't be at the reception for 7PM... our reception is going to be tight and we have a lot to do within 4 hours.  I just don't know if the cocktail is worth the money, but I do want something planned to entertain our guests while we take our pictures....

well, obvioulsy it is your choice and no matter what you do it will be perfect. I can just tell you that my guests didnt really need a schedule - and in fact liked having a bit of free time to change and freshen up (it is hot there and my friends were happy to washup and change and fix their hair etc). If you tell them to be there for 7 :00, then they should be there when you tell them to be there... just like a wedding at home. They wont miss the dinner - and if they do then its really their own fault :) lol.  If you want to do it, talk to the wedding coordinators and they will help you figure it out. Dont stress. it will be perfect no matter what you choose. I promise :)

email me if you want to chat some more [email protected]   I will help you figure this out if you want some help

Hi Jen - If you stay at GP, you have the option to have your wedding in any of the locations they have there at GP.  Whether you want the beach wedding, the church wedding, or a jungle type wedding...  It doesn't matter where you stay in the grand GP resort...  you can stay in the Kantenah part and get married in the White Sands part...  Have you talked to any of the wedding coordinators yet??
