PHOTOGRAPHY for JAMAICA

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies,

So far we've concluded that 2011 might be best for us, and we've decided on Jamaica.

What we haven't decided on is the venue and other vendors. Ideally we're NOT looking for an AI like RIU or the Sandals chain. We have a few ideas and these places allow us bring in our own vendors like photography etc.

So we're wondering who can you suggest?

I have to be honest we've been deadset for Jesh de Rox. He's an awesome Canadian photographer, and when we've been watching him and his work for about 3 years. Last year we spoke with him, and discussed prices and we could have had a package that included his travel expenses. It was a little expensive but we really adore his style. A few months later we checked his price list (we used to check his site religiously), and he tippled his starting packages smile43.gif

We're still stunned...and so we decided that as much as we love his work, we can't pay that much for photography- especially if that's the starting price.

Anyways, I was hoping you ladies might know of photographers who are NOT that expensive. We love fine art texture photography, and we know its a matter of great composition and post processing. We're also hoping for one that travels and does TTD etc.

Anyways, sorry for rambling, but I'm hoping you ladies can help us.

TIA!

There are a ton of photogs on this forum who do fantastic work. If you go to the Vendor Marketplace I'm sure you'll find someone who fits your style and price.

There really aren't that many photojournalistic people based in Jamaica. When we were looking, we were in touch with Michael Saab and Sungold, but ended up bringing in our own photog from the states.

Thanks ladies. I'll be checking out those links - hopefully I can find someone who uses textures etc. I actually have a short list of a few hopefuls but its always good to source out more choices and options in case our needs change.

I also looked at Sungold, Michael Saab and few others too.

Choosing a photographer is hard hard work!

Ditto, and I love his work! Is there another photographer with the same style, bu more reasonable? I would have splurged but you dont get enough pics on the h r disc for the price. I think for 3700 you only get like 50 pics on disc.

Yeah, Jesh has REALLY blown up here in the last year, like astronomically, he's a stud and I'm stoked for how successful he's been.

Really, there are plenty of high quality/fun/awesome wedding photographers out there willing to travel.

I would probably start by searching for photographers close to where you live and see if you find one with work you really like, just keep spreading your net wider and wider until you find a great photographer.

Also, you can check out websites like the wpja, sbpremiers and other sites that bring together multiple photographers to see a grouping and get more in site at once.

Thanks Tim. I think you're first person I've spoken to who knows of Jesh (well maybe others have, but haven't said anything), but I agree- he really has become phenomenally successful. Unfortunately it means that I can no longer afford him. Pity I couldn't book him last year for my wedding date. Lol! Oh well, such is life!

Thanks for those organizations...I'm going to try my hand at them and see what comes up. If you think of anyone else that might have a very similar style to Jesh and travels, please let me know.

Thanks again! cheesy.gif
