Are OOTs a must? What are alternatives?

Love this thread! So many great ideas from everyone!

I'm starting early so that we don't feel the cost of everything at once. Starting some DIY projects as soon as next month! Can't wait!

I plan on doing a simple Welcome bag. My cousin included a bottle of local Jamaican rum and a nicely package of local coffee. I assume guests would bring the essential suntan lotion, advil etc. so don't want to pack extra stuff that may not be necessary.

go with what ever your budget and time allows. Guests don't "expect" to get a gift!

We are sending our guests a package with a note expressing our excitement that they are joining us in Italy for the wedding. In the package we will send luggage tags, electricity converters, to do guides for Rome and Florence (our excursions for the wedding week) blow up neck pillows and money belts.

In lieu of a bag, I'd suggest getting guests 32oz bubba kegs to take. I got them for our bridal party and everyone lives them and used them.

Just got back from our wedding - we did beach bags (filled with goodies), and the bags were used nonstop. I definitely don't think they're a must-do item, but they were definitely appreciated by our guests!

I don't think they are necessarily a must, but we are doing them as a gesture of gratitude for our guests spending lots of time/money attending our wedding. I think for larger weddings it would be too difficult, but we are only having about 30 ppl making the trip. We are doing one bag per couple or single person to cut down on the amount of stuff we need to bring as well.
