Are OOTs a must? What are alternatives?

Recommended Posts

I am so glad I read this thread. I love the idea of OOT bags and I have been collecting stuff for them but then I started worrying about how I was going to get all of them down there on top of everything else. Very true that our guests will appreciate whatever we give them even if its something small.

This thread is great!  I love the idea of giving guests their bags before the trip; that way guests can decide what they want to bring to the resort, and we don't have to worry about getting it all down there.  I also think it would be nice to personally deliver the bags to guests who live near enough.

What I did was plan on a certain number and if I bought too much, then each person would recieve an OOT bag.  So far, I am over by 3 people!  Not bad!

That's a really smart idea. I really like the suggestions I've seen for games like playing cards and soduku. Not that anyone is going to be bored, but its nice to lounge and do something that simple and fun. Makes me anxious to be lying on that beach doing NOTHING lol

The OOT bags are a great idea as long as you include items that will definitely be  used. We flew Delta to Jamaica and were allowed 2 luggages free each. So I had one suitcase that had all of my wedding/OOT bags items in it . We had 16 guests so I didn't really have a lot to pack. The OOT bags delivered to our guests rooms before they arrived and the resort charged a fee of $3.00 per bag for delivery. Our guests really appreciated the OOT bags. You can't go wrong with OOT bags!

I didn't know what OOT bags were either until I found this site!  I was onboard with the idea right away, but the fiancee wasn't too crazy about spending more money.  But in the end we decided that our guests have spent a bit of money to join us for the wedding so it is the least we can do to give them a little bag of goodies.  We also decided to have a get together prior to the trip so that we won't have to lug everything to Mexico.  We also decided we are doing 1 bag per room or family.  If there 2 single people sharing a room we would give them a bag each.  I have been obsessively reading the posts about OOT bags and decided get canvas tote bags (and iron on transfer our logo) so that they can use the bags when going to the pool or beach.  We also bought bubba kegs as we swear by bringing these to an all inclusive resort.  And I am currently researching prices for the other little items we can put in the bag so that I can be as frugal as possible.  I am still looking for ways to incorporate a map of the resort or a list of excursions they can take - not sure how to put that together just yet.....
