Dreams Puerto Aventuras Brides - POST HERE!

We gave a small tip to our WC because we were happy with what we got for the most part. We had a few glitches though so that's why we didn't entirely feel obligated to give a whole lot. At our reception we definitely tipped the waiters well though because their service was excellent. I don't think anyone had an empty glass (or even close to empty) through the whole evening and the food & service was wonderful. We paid for some of that tip, but my FIL put in the most I think just because our parents wanted to.

As for waiters around the resort at meals, it all depended on the situation. Dinners we pretty well always left a few dollars (more for the waiter at the Mexican restaurant that did a cool fire show with our coffees!), a dollar or two at lunch depending on where we ate and maybe a dollar at breakfast when we were inside at the buffet.

To give guests a very rough idea you could suggest a $1,2,3 idea where they might want to plan for $1 per breakfast, $2 per lunch and $3 per dinner?? It's certainly not required and always depends on the service of course. I know we left $5's for some dinners and only $2 for others. And those amounts were usually just hubby and myself, so if we were in a group the other guests would also leave some amount too so remember that for a dinner $3 sounds cheap for us but take that times three couples and it's a good tip for the wait staff.

Oooh yes, we also tipped the manager in the buffet restaurant a bulk amount before we left the resort. I can't think of his name right now but seriously, that man was taking care of things early in the morning when we got up for breakfast and still going late at night when we were sitting having drinks and pigging out!! He was exceptionally courteous and definitely made a difference in that place!

I've been to many AIs and we always tip the bartenders a couple bucks a round too! They remember you all week, make good drinks and wait on you quick even w/ a crowd around. Also my FI and his friend we travel w/ have been bartenders so......they want a good drink and know that tips are very appreciated.

Could you ask her to answer my email as well? LOL Can't wait to hear about your experience. Jacy doesn't have any pics of the pool terrace area...if you could try and get one! Have fun!

Thanks for the tip info ladies!

Gowiththeflow, can you let me know if you find any cute/cheap maracas around there when you go down?

I found a site that has really good prices on them (like $2 a pair) here and they have my colors (pink and orange), but I'm accumulating a lot a stuff to bring down as it is. I'm hoping that's one thing I'll be able to get there.

Do any of you have/had guests that were not staying at the resort?

It looks like I'm going to have 8 that are renting a house nearby and I'm wondering how this is going to work for the wedding. From the website I figured it will cost $55 a person for a half day pass (lunch and dinner) and around $80 for a full day pass. So long as they have that I assume there will be no additional charge for them at the wedding.

I'm really hoping there is something cheaper to get them in just for the wedding though. I'm not looking forward to paying an extra $440 just to get them in but feel bad asking them to pay extra also.

Should I be paying for this or ask them to?

I think the day pass is the only way that they will be allowed in to attend the wedding as anyone coming in and out of the marina area in a taxi or car is asked for their resort, last names & room number every single time. Maybe just talk to Jacy and see if there's any sort of group rate that she could give you and restrict their pass to certain hours or something?? Not sure...

As for etiquette in asking them to pay the fare... was it their own decision to stay off the resort to save on money that way? Or was that given as an alternative by you? If those guests decided on their own to stay off the resort then I think most people should understand that they can't just come and go from the resorts at will and that there might be a fee associated. A lot of the resorts even charge locals for access to use the beaches and stuff so it's not like they're just charging the tourists either...
