Legal vs. Symbolic Ceremony, RIU Palace....

Recommended Posts

Well, hello everybody!

I will try to answer your questions all at once...

Regarding your question, the answers are quite simple:

A Religious Wedding is a ceremony that is based mainly in your religion. It is a ceremony where prayers and scripture readings can be combined. But it is a no time a mass service.

A symbolic wedding, is one where no religion is taken into consideration. Rather, it is a ceremony where poems or songs can be mixed along. This type of ceremonies are usually closer to a regular civil wedding.

Hopefully this explanation can answer your question.

For either wedding, always look for a non-denomination minister.... Like me :)

Regarding the question about the Sand Ceremony Kit... The hotel could provide regular glass vases for your sand ceremony. But the ones that come in a kit, are yours to keep and usually the sand container can be engraved with your names and the date of your wedding. Also, the sand comes in different colors already.

Hopefully this was clear enough to answer some of your questions :)

Have a great day and see you soon!

So does a sand ceremony replace a unity candle? and since you are on a beach the sand ties in?

I went to that website and they said something about "If you need ideas for wording or vows for your Unity Sand Ceremony"--so do you provide something for them to say? Do they already know what they will say about the sand?

Do you typically buy the sand or use sand from the location of your wedding site?

This is the first time I have heard of a sand ceremony so I have lots of questions!

Yes the sand replaces the unity candle. I order my sand with the kit. Michaels has some sand, but not many colors to choose from.

I got the wording from the Sante fe minister:

Sand Unity Ceremony '--------and -----------, may your love always be as constant as the never ending waves, flowing endlessly from the dephts of the sea.

Just as there will never be a morning without the oceans flow, may there never be a day

without your love for each other.

As you each hold your sand, the separate containers of sand, represent your lives to this moment. Individual and unique. As you now combine your sand together, your lives also join together as one.

You may now blend the sand together symbilizing the uniting of the bride and groom

into one.

The life that each of you have experienced until now, individually, will hereafter be inseparably united, for the two shall become one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be.

Hope this helps.
