Rachel I am so sorry to hear that you are going through all this. My heart just aches for you. However, I'm happy to see how strong you are. It takes a lot of balls to follow through with what your heart and gut are telling you so I give you much kudos for being brave. You are absolutely correct that it is easier now than later. I just had a talk with one of my friends that is in serious trouble in her relationship and she doesn't want to throw 4 years away. I only asked her what would she say to her future self if she realized she stayed and then threw 20 years away. She still couldn't get herself to cross that road even though she knows she should. I believe you are much better off than she will be.

I can't add anything to what anyone else has said apart from I wish i'd had the courage to do that before I got married the last time. It was much harder to dismantle everything 9 months later and much nastier.
