AHR after the DW

Recommended Posts

my FI are seriously considering a DW mainly becuse it will cost us at less half of what it would in NYC. My one worry is that we want to invite our families to the DW but know that everyone will not be able to come. Would it be weird if we invited our families to the DW like it was a wedding here and then invite all of them again to the AHR?

The AHR will not be like a regular wedding, just a nice party to celebrate our wedding but how soon after should we have it? Would 8 - 12 weeks after we come home be too long afterwards or should it be closer to 6 weeks after?

Thanks.

When are you getting married?

Our DW is in Nov, so we are having our AHR in March when the weather will be a bit better (we are up in Alberta, so weather can be bad). As for who to invite, we are inviting those who make it to the DW as well. We didn't want to leave them out, and our AHR will be the typical dance party which we aren't doing at our DW. We will also have a slideshow and show the wedding video at the AHR, so those who were there, would probably like to see that.

We are doing exactly that. We sent invitations to everyone for the DW and we are planning on sending out invitations closer time to everyone again for the AHR. We knew not everyone could make it but to avoid hurting any feelings we sent them to everyone. We didn't want anyone to think we didn't invite them because they couldn't afford it.

im planning on doin the same thing. my DW will probably be very small because I just want the people we are closest to to be there...but when we get home I want to go to a nice restaurant and take everyone out...some people we want to invite to the DW but know they either cant fly or just cant afford the trip :o(....so this is a great way for them to still be a part of the celebrations i think :o)
