Iberostar Brides....POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

For past brides- any suggestions for # to put at table at tropical. They are round. first Gabriella suggested 6, now she said 8. I have a odd num- so it would be 8 and one with 10.Or 6 with one with 8. Is 8 to much or will 6 look empty. I AM SECOND GUESSING MYSELF ON EVERYTHING cause as soon as i feel comfortable about something they change what they are saying lol

Gail,

Gabriela and Reyna do/did work together but it seemed to me like they didn't communicate with each other very well. I sent Gabriela an email prior to the wedding about something and Reyna answered my email talking about something that I had not asked about at all. I was totally irritated lol.

kimrae99 - oh girl...I'll try to help but they make that crap so confusing! I see your are having a civil ceremony at the IB* Maya and I was married at the IB* Beach....what I was told that Del Mar/Beach side and Maya/Lindo side each have their own "requirements" (sometimes differing from the other and I have no idea why, I don't even think THEY know lol) for civil ceremonies. For Del Mar/Beach, all that was required of us was long-form birth certificates (no translation necessary), valid passports, 4 witnesses with valid passports and their tourist cards. We were not required to translate or have anything apostilled. If you or someone you know happens to speak Spanish, I would highly recommend you or that person get in touch with the Maya/Lindo wc and confirm the requirements in Spanish so that there isn't any confusion as to what it is you are asking them. I did this via my TA and it was such a huge relief when they told me that I didn't have to translate/apostille anything. I really hope this helps, sorry I can't offer much more on that. Good luck hun and let us know what you find out!! :)

I have found the same thing with the communication...it is like they don't even talk to each other! But they are always helpful.

Regarding the civil ceremony...we are just getting married here in Sweden and having the blessing there...cheaper and easier. Just an idea.

Hi Ladies!

I just passed the three month mark and an very excited about my wedding. But I have not heard anything from the WCs at the Lindo. It seems you all got some kind of packet just about now, but I've got nada. Just saw the message about the promotions, etc. Has anyone been working with the WCs at the Lindo lately? Should I email them?

Thanks!

Jeannie

When I hit the 3 month mark, I sent the WC an email to start the communication. It was very basic and straight forward with my wedding date, arrival date & ceremony location. I just introduced myself and waited for a response. Even though I had tons of questions, I didn't want to overwhelm them with my initial email (that came about a week later! LOL )

I have a question for either of you or ParaisoBeachBride2009. My FI and I are having the civil / legal ceremony and are wanting confirmation of the legal documents that are required. Intially, the WC said they need a Spanish translation of birth certificates with an Apostille, but now she says they no longer need an Apostille. Could you please help me with whether or not any Spanish translations are required?

I apologize if this has been discussed previously. I couldn't find it : ) Plus the rules have apparently changed recently.

Thank you!
Kimrae99 - we're on the same page! I was up late last night searching the threads about the civil/legal ceremony and was slowly getting frustrated. I already obtained the Apostille and was about to start the translation process. I intend to email the WC today to get the scoop. We can compare responses.

Paraisobeachbride - Thanks for your feedback. I find it so strange that both resorts would have different requirements considering they're located on the same property -- go figure!

Thanks briscoecrown! It's so nice to have some support on other brides going through the same thing. I emailed the WC and I will let you know what she says.

Paraisobeachbride - As always, thanks for your help! You have been great.

Paraisobeachbride2009---- Were you completely satisfied with the wording the judge used for your ceremony? Did it sound 'legal'? Or did it have a love feel? Did it have any traditional stuff... i.e. 'to have & to hold'... 'you may kiss your bride'?

I'm really trying to get an idea of what to expect. I asked the WC if we could add anything to the ceremony and here's the response I received.

"Appreciating the time you spend to be in contact with us I regret to inform you that the judge can no read special vows in the ceremony because the government provides to the judge specific wording to performance the wedding ceremony and that information is confidential. In case you would like to have an additional ceremony with a minister I would like to inform you that you can pay for a minister $350 usd and include both ceremonies in your wedding date. The advantage of the minister is that you can have your own votes or change some wording in the ceremony."

Right now, the last thing I want to do is pay another fee. Besides, the idea of us going through two seperate ceremonies performed by two different officiants doesn't sound too appealing. Not to mention, having my guests sweating in the sun.

Any thoughts? I appreciate any feedback.

Hi Jeannie,

I got my document emailed at about 3 months. I am just at 2 and a half. July 5! When is your day?

So they should be sending it any day, but I am sure you could shoot an email to be proactive. I was surprised they actually sent it to me without asking. But since it is on your mind, I would ask.

The document needs to be retunrned (email) one month prior to the wedding. It has all the details you can pretty much think of. that is where I am in my planning. I have it mostly filled out, but might change my mind and want to add/subtract after I read Ryan's Girl and LindoBride's review. :)

Hope that helps!

Bess
