More great work Tammy! Are you using a tripod for any of that? Just curious because I can never seem to be able to hold the camera still when taking real close up stuff like that.

As far as playing with the aperture settings.... a good idea may be to do a bracketing sort of system. Set the camera to aperture priority, then do one shot at the original program setting. After the first shot adjust the aperture up and down from there to play with depth of field. For example..

shot 1: 1/250 at f5.6 (just a random setting for the example)
shot 2: 1/500 at f4
shot 3: 1/1000 at f3.5
shot 4: 1/125 at f8
shot 5: 1/60 at f11

they all are the same correct exposure but using different fstops adjusts the depth of field to play with how much or little of the photo is in focus.

Hey Jay, I haven't used the tripod yet, I was trying to catch a bug and the only bug I found on a flower, the pics turned out super dark and I ended up having my ISO too high and it had way too much noise. I did have my setting on AP, but I think the problem I was having is the ones that were good Aperture I ended up having bad lighting, so it was like I was battling between the two settings. I was debating using a flash but I think it would have over exposed the pics.

Hmmm maybe I was shooting at the wrong time of day, maybe the sun was too harsh and was effecting my pictures?? Maybe you and Karen need to take a trip to MI and we can do some photo shooting together. :-) Yeah that sounds like a plan, go ahead and set that up.. lol
