Hey everyone!

I sent out my STDs a few months ago and told people to contact the TA by August 15 to secure their spot at the group discounted rate. At this point, I have 62 confirmed. I know some people are booking it on their own, so I'm definitely sending out invitations so I can get a real head count. My question is, if I'm getting married in May, how far in advance can I send out invitations without it being too early? I'm nuts and want to know who's coming asap, so I want to send them out as soon as it seems appropriate.

Thanks for your input....

Lizz-we're also nuts & want to know ASAP. We're sending out invites in Sept and asking for an RSVP by November. We want to get to our guests before the holidays drive everybody crazy! I know that sound VERY early for an April wedding - but nobody does anything on time in either of our families. We'll be lucky if we get 20 RSVPs back by Jan!!!

We are in the same boat. Oh, well. The deadline for the advanced price is quickly running out but I dont have the time or inclination to do up the invites this early. I'm thinking Sept/Oct for April wedding. Everyone who got an STD knew the early bird booking deadline, so sux 2 b them!

We sent our invites out in late May/early June (for our November wedding) but basically already had everyone confirmed by late May because Dreams was booking so fast (we had no choice). If I knew everything involved, I would have planned with more anticipation so that the invites weren't as much of an afterthought but oh well. That's why DW's are done so differently, right?

  • 2 weeks later...

My resort has asked that I confirm the location for our ceremony and reception 3 months (90 days) prior to our arrival. Our decisions for these locales will be based on guest attendance.

In addition, final payments are required 60 days prior to arrival.

Three months prior for locale decisions is January 18 ... which falls right after the holidays. So, do I send out invites in October and ask for an RSVP in mid-November ... before the holiday rush ... or send them out in mid-November and ask for RSVP's by mid-January.

I know these are going to get lost in the shuffle, and I know we have a lot of last-minute friends who will likely book a month or two out.

But given that we have to make decisions ... which time frame sounds better?

Before this deadline, we planned on mailing invites in january w/ a late February RSVP date.

I have sent out STD's (May) and already have 47 people booked ... but expect about 35 more to book (guest list is 247) ... and also use email for Newsletter Updates and have a website which is getting good hits. BUT -- LOTS of people who SAY they are coming haven't booked yet. smile105.gif

Sorry to ramble...
