I got a computer virus :(

It was so sneaky. it popped up as soon as I started up my computer. I couldn't access the internet until I read this warning from time warner cable road runner. it was a warning about using Peer-2-peer programs. I had to click a link to access the internet after that.

 

I sent the messqage to mike & he said it was fake. I called time warner & they confirmed it was fake.

 

luckily I backed up my computer on Sunday. it had been a while since I had backed up so I thought it would be a good time. We are going to reformat my computer & start.

 

I've been downloading lots of software lately trying to convery my wedding video toa file format I can work with & then soemthing I can burn on a DVD. I probably picked something up then.

 

I need to buy an external harddrive & set it up to auto backup.

That sucks Morgan! Viruses are the worst, but thankfully you backed up your files. We got one once that was so bad we had to take our computer all the way back to the store mode you buy it in. We lost EVERYTHING! Now we back up a lot more!

I hate viruses...I got one on my computer at work by downloading lyrics...and the funny thing is, I didn't even like the song I had downloaded the lyrics of, but there was a couple of verses that didn't make sense and I had to know what the hell the singer was saying or trying to say!

That sucks! I've had one on my laptop for a couple months now. I need to take it somwhere to get it fixed since I don't know anything about them. Thank goodness my fiance has one so I have just been using that for now!

Morgan that sucks! Glad you caught it. I have a stupid question (well, I guess its not that stupid since idk the answer)... what do you do to "back up" files? I'm so technologically challenged. I feel like SJP in that episode of Sex and the City where she gets the little bomb face and everyone keeps asking her if she backed up her stuff.
