Busted Ankle...Need Help Still Staying In Shape

Recommended Posts

Okay, I booked my boudoir session for the end of this month and decided to hit the gym harder so that I will feel less conscious about my body during the session. Well during my aerobic step class, my ankle gave out and I ended up rolling over on it. Yes...a total klutz and total embarassement!smile105.gif

So now I cannot work out for at least 2 1/2 weeks and am being ordered to rest and ice my ankle in the meantime, which translates into me eating more junk food, laying on the couch, and putting on the pounds.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on how I can lose weight and tone up while trying to obey the dr's orders?

I had to wear a boot for 4 months last year because I had a stress fracture in my calf. I continued going to the gym and just did weights. I was never big into lifting before that (was always a runner) and surprisingly to me not only did I stay in shape but I actually lost a few pounds (that I wasn't even trying to lose). Now I'm a total convert and lift 5-6 days/wk and only do cardio about 2-3 days/wk. Just do as many weight-lifting exercises as possible that don't require you to stand. Good luck!

Good idea! I'm not a weights type of person but I guess now I can't be too picky now.

Thanks! I will add more crunches to my list. I also tried last night to do girlie push ups and that seemed to work. By doing those I don't put a lot of pressure on my bad ankle. These 2 1/2 weeks seem like 6-8. I guess it's because I'm so impatient and stubborn. :)

You can also watch what you eat. Stick to a 1200-1500 calorie a day diet, cut out white foods (potatoes, bread, pasta, white rice), limit salt, and stick to lean proteins.

I agree that you can do some weight training to keep you active. Does you gym have a pool? Swimming is a fantastic whole body work-out and there is no impact.
