I'm the exact same way with my two pugs, don't want to leave them with just anyone. And mine would freak at a kennel, especially my rescue pup. Have you thought about asking any of the technicians at your vet if they do pet/house sitting? That's what we did and one of them is going to stay at our house all week and care for our babes! It's actually going to be cheaper than a kennel or doggy daycare. Plus, she has the medical background if something goes wrong and can take them to our vet. It works out perfect for us. Maybe worth checking into?

This is going to sound weird, but do you have any women's prisons around you? One near my work has a special program/business that does dog sitting. It's a HUGE privilege for the inmates to be allowed to participate so they take really good care of the animals. A lady at my office swears by it. There are non-inmates that run the business portion, but the inmates deal with the dogs.

My sister lives in Denver and she takes her dogs to a doggy day care near her house that she swears by. (aside: we have both grown up with pets and are childless so our pets are our kids too). Anyway, they go on vacation all the time and leave the pups there for long periods and she says they love going. I could get the information if you are interested.

If so, I would suggest going there to check it out, leave the dogs there overnight and a trial so you have a sense of confidence when you leave.

Oh Andrea that sucks. Our sitter is my mom, pending her determination of wedding finances. Otherwise I am driving them an hour and a half to my grandparents house who are not able to go to the wedding due to poor health. My grandma really wants to watch them, so I know they will still be in good hands.

 

I cannot imagine. I wouldn't trust anyone with our rescue babies either. Good luck! I hope your back-up works out!

Mine is a bit of a nightmare 2. The only person I trust to look after them is coming to the wedding!!

 

So as FI is in the Vet Corps meg the rotty is going to DAC which is about 3 1/2 hours away and is the Vet Corps HQ with loads of the top vets etc and her aunty Claire will look after her she is also an army dog trainer lol

 

Floyd is going to Aldershot which is about 6 hours away but is where FI is based at the min, he has a shit attitude at times but he is used to big kennels etc as he is an ex military dog. He'll be in good hands he'll have a full Corps to look after him lol and if anything happens to either one FI will knack them lmao
