Everyone says that after the location is booked, everything will fall into place. I don't feel that way! I am so stressed with everything! K, I am now done with my rant. lol.
Oh My God! I can't believe you guys are doing that! We didn't offer to pay for anyone, and my parents are DRIVING from Los Angeles and my future in-laws are flying in from GERMANY!! Anyway, remember to do a lot of research on the vendors prices and do bargain! Try calling Gaby from Baja Weddings, comparatively her fees we're much better than others and so far has been very helpful. I'm on a tight budget too and she is very understanding and helpful at finding ways for me to cut costs. PM me if you want more details.....Good Luck!!

What price for rooms is the Sheraton quoting you? Our wedding is at the Sheraton on May 30th... just wondering if they are giving you similar prices. They want $7 per person for cake from me! That sounds a little much... what price are they giving you for the bar?

For a standard room it's $199 plus tax and fees. But my in-laws found it online for $175 (including tax and everything!!)It doesn't sound like much of a difference but they're staying 9nights, so thats at least a $225 difference, not including taxes! So if they book with us, to get credit for our 10 room minimum basically they have to pay for an extra night!
For the cake, I've read the cake from the Sheraton is pretty awful! I got Jennifer Hatton through my wedding planner and she is charging us $7 a person, but every review I've read about her say her cakes are amazing! I'm having a cake with nutella frosting, I'm sure if you get a more basic cake it will be cheaper. Make sure you ask about all the extra fees though, if you want fresh flowers on the cake...Extra fee, Cake stand...Extra fee, delivery...Extra fee!! There seems to be and extra fee for everything when they know you're a bride sad.gif

This is exactly what I am dealing with!  We haven't signed our contract yet, but I already know that we are going to have trouble filling the 10 room minimum.  People can get WAY better deals by packaging their airfare and hotel together...they save like $400!  I feel exactly the same way, how can I ask my guests to pay more?  Do you have a WC?  I do not, but in reading these forums think it might be a good idea to get one that doesn't work for the Sheraton.  Any advice???

I was originally having my wedding at the Sheraton in November last year my mum flew over from Australia to do a site visit with me, we loved the resort and found anne so helpful.  My fiance then got made redundant a month later and we had to relocate to Australia so could no longer afford to do our wedding in Nov we moved it to April of this year and Viviana the wedding sales manage up the room rate by $100 per night and would not negotiate even though we were booking 15-20 rooms and all staying for 5 nights minimum so they would have been making a fortune from us.  We decided not to have our wedding there because of this fact and the service Viviana and the sheraton (apart form anne) gave us. We are not getting married at Dreams on 11th April 2011 and couldn't be happier with the choice.

I am hving my wedding at the sheraton in november and I have found that they definately do not budge on anything! We ended up having to block out 30 rooms to have the music until midnight. We were originally having our reception on the terrace of the de Cortez restaurant, but didn't realize in our contract that the music has to stop at 10:30 since its outside. Our only option was to rento ut the entire restaurant so we can have music until midnight inside. The minimum food and beverage to buy out the restaurant is $16,000. I was ok wiht that since we are expecting 100 people, but then they tell us since we are having the music later, we have to block out the 30 rooms behind the restauant! There was no negotiating and we had no other choice but to ad this into our contract. We thought about changin locations, but we had alrady signed our first contract and would loose alot of money if we cancelled. Moral of the story, read the fine print before you sign!

Now that our guest are booking, they are charging more for rooms with more than 2 people. This is very frustrating since we are already having issues with guests booking packages through online travel sites!

I am having my wedding there in November and we are trying to figure out the bar situation. Open bar is very expensive! we were thinking about doing it based on consumption, but I am worried they might cheat us and add more drinks on to the tap. How was your experience with this?

OMG I can't believe this.....actually I CAN. I'm getting married at the sheraton in November as well. My fiance and I are having the SAME issues in dealing with HDM! Do they really expect the wedding to be cut off at 10:30pm? I feel like that's exactly when things start to pick up and get FUN. We are also having similar issues with the $$$$ negotiations. They refuse to budge despite the fact that we have 30 rooms booked. The menu prices are insane. We haven't even figured out the bar pricing...I'm scared hehe. That being said, MandM2011, I think your reception venue is the best! It will be gorgeous I'm sure!!!!  Out of curiosity, who are you using for hair and makeup? Suzanne Morel was booked, so I'm thinking of going with Senza Spa. The prices for hair and makeup are pretty steep though. I'd like to pay for all my bridesmaid's to get this, BUT if I go with Senza, I may have to reconsider :( Let me know if you have any helpful hints or info...
