Distance from ROR to town, excursions?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering how far it was from the resort to town. Am I dumb for asking this? Should i plan to just stay on resort property? When we went to Cozumel it was a 3-5 minute cab ride that cost $6 to get to town for the shopping, restaurants, clubs, etc. What is there to do outside of the resort and how long and at what cost can I expect to get there?

Ocho Rios is about a 10 minute cab ride from ROR. We stopped there on our way to SGOR. There were a lot of outside markets and tons of bars, but I'm not sure if they were touristy places or more for the locals. There's also a Margaritaville. We spent all of our time at the resort, but a couple people in our group ventured out to the town to explore during the day and had a good time.

As Lizz stated, it's a pretty short cab ride. There is a great place to eat called The Jerk Center, we ate there twice! It's not fancy AT ALL but super tasty and authentic. We paid $10pp for a van to take about 20 of our guests there and back one night for dinner. Lots of other excursions are pretty close by too- Dunns River, swimming with dolphins, botanical gardens, fern gully, horseback riding, Chuka tours-zipline & ATV (this was about 15-20 minutes away, the farthest we went). I think we paid $7 or 8 for the shopping excursion.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
