Yes, we got a proposal and an authorization form to send payment for all the extras we requested. Unfortunately, its not the same as a contract in the fact that you can't add stipulations about outside photographers or what not.

I was worried at first that we would eventually be charged for using outside photographers, but I'm pretty confident that the wedding planner and on-site coordinator will stay true to their word now.

We had our wedding at BP last December, and we used our cocktail hour in lieu of a rehearsal dinner, so we re-purposed it as a welcome cocktail hour.  Our ceremony was on the rooftop sky terrace, and our reception was on the south terrace, so we wanted to do something different beforehand.  So we did the welcome cocktail hour on the beach, and they actually set it up with some little tables and chairs, which was completely included in the price.

I included a picture below, so you can kind of see the set-up.  To the far right of the picture, they brought in a bar for just our group, but they had a waitstaff that brought the drinks right down to us. :)  It's hard to see, but I think there were four shorter tables with four chairs each, and then there were three or four taller cocktail tables too, and in the center of all of it was a large table with the cocktail food.  I hope that helps!

How was the food? I haven't read many comments, if any, on the food.

Thanks. I was thinking about bringing them but I read somewhere on here that the resort won't let you use the silk petals.

Try flyboys naturals-- they are freeze dried.. .i used them and they worked nicely...just cannot buy them too far in advance--maybe order them about 1 1/2 to 2 mos out.

My TA has talked with the Miami office but I have not. Are you doing all your own arrangements?? My fiance's cousin is a travel agent and does lots of destination weddings so it was easy to have her since we already knew her personally. I hope to have contact with people myself at some point so that I can get to know them.

I am choosing the beach for ceremony...I keep reading how great the rooftop is but I am still drawn to the beach. I feel like if I am going all this way I want to get married with the sand in my toes!! Reception is up in the air. I am waiting to see how many actually book. So far about 35 say they are coming but I am not sure if some will drop out or if some may add once I send out actual invites. I have no colors!!! I wanted neutrals so that I did not have to coordinate my bridesmaids dresses and they can wear any color. I was looking at the Pearl Shimmer package but for now have booked complimentary and we put our money towards blocking rooms for our guests until I get a better idea of how many are coming and if I am going to have a private reception, etc. And I was not planning to bring much because I read you had to pay $300 a table if you wanted to bring your own decorations. I wated to have Ivan Luckie as my photographer but I asked to have an outside photographer and they said no. I asked my TA to ask again before I sign the contract but I am just waiting now. It says no outside vendors. I am definitely doing a TTD with him in the cenotes. Are you having a different result with outside vendors being allowed??? I feel like there are so many variables and what ifs!

Tell me all of your details please :)

I used Ivan Luckie- paid for a room for him and his assistant (wife). I basically told them that if I wasnt allowed the outside photographer, i would go elsewhere.
