Timing for Reception/Ceremony/Cocktails etc

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies (and gents),

Was wondering if any of you had creative ideas about timing...

I am considering the Riu Palace Mexico, but they only allow the private dinner and dancing in one place, and it is only allowed at 8.30pm.

This is lateish I think... And I want to get married in February, so the sun set will be shortly after 5... so my ceremony will probably be at 3 or 4, followed by photos.

Is thre any possible way I can get a good timing flow for this? Any ideas of what could happen between 5 and 8.30? OR is this a bad idea (I could go back to the drawing board with looking at resorts...)

Any ideas/advice?

Thanks ladies.

i am honestly stumped- i personally think 8:30 to begin dinner is pretty late because it will take at least an hour to eat- and then you wont begin the dancing and stuff till 9:30 or 10- and then all parties in mexico end at 11- that doesnt leave you much time to party!

that does seem weird, I know people eat late on vacation but by the time you get dinner it will be 9 and what time is quiet time? do you have to be done by 10 or 11? that would be terrible.

I would see if you can at least get 7 or 7:30.

I was thinking of doing this too, but Dreams PV said it would be an additional $10 pp/hr @ 150 guests... I really don't want to add another expense.

So how are you all timing your weddings in general.

I mean, even if I had a private dinner/dancing you wouldn't really want it to start before 6.30 or so, or would you?

And with a ceremony at 4 or so, what do you do between 4.30 and 6.30? or 3.30 and 6.30 for those with earlier weddings, how does it work?

Thanks!
