Valentin Imperial Maya Brides?

ChelsH - Thanks for the AWESOME and detailed review. One question for you - do you think customs would be less of an issue if all the welcome bags stuff wasn't in one suitcase? I'm a little worried about that. I didn't know to keep receipts for everything!! :s

JBean,  I'm not 100% sure about this but I think it might help a little to split up the welcome bags.  Also, I didn't have all the receipts either but I printed some up for the stuff I was missing and didn't have any problems with the printed ones.  There are some templates in Word that you can use.  I think as long as you can justify that it is for a wedding and under $300 per person you will be fine, even if they pull you to the side.

Thank you. Oh, less than $300 each for Fi and me? So less than $600 total? Hmmm, I'm sure they are but I better add up to be sure. I will make some printed receipts - thanks for the idea!

What about DIY items, like cds in DIY cases? Sorry for all the questions!

I posted a review for our wedding and some pics under the resort review section.  I tried to post it here as well but it hasn't gone up yet.  Maybe you can view it through this: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/valentin-imperial-maya/reviews/5137

I also did one for Blue Lens: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/blue-lens-caribe-wedding-photography/reviews/5138

No worries JBean!  Basically, anything you bring that is not for personal use, or what you would normally take on vacation, cannot be valued over $300 per traveler.  My understanding is that if it is over $300 they can charge you taxes on it.  That is why it is important to have receipts so you can prove the cost instead of letting them estimate.  My stuff was a little over $600 so I had to fix the prices a little on the receipts I printed.  I also attached a note, in English and in Spanish, to the receipts saying what it was for and how it was going to be used in the wedding.  This thread was really helpful to me:  http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/41422/customs-in-mexico-an-effort-to-gather-the-info-in-one-thread  There is a ton of info on that thread so hopefully it will help you too.  Let me know if you have any other questions though.  : )

Anything you have that is not a personal item, something you would normally take and use while traveling, has to value under $300 per traveler.  It is my understanding that anything over $300 could be subject to taxes and that is why it is important to have the receipts.  Otherwise I think they estimate the worth of the items you have.  I also included a note, in English and Spanish, that stated how the items would be used in the wedding and attached it to the receipts.

Hey everyone!  I am back from my BEAUTIFUL wedding!!  Don't have any reviews or anything yet but I just wanted to let you all know that it was perfect.  Ana and the whole team was phenomenal and I really couldn't have asked for anything more.  I will write details/reviews in the next week and post them as soon as I have them.  :)
