Janet-we did the steak and shrimp for our reception dinner. I don't eat either, but everyone said that they were both excellent, specifically the steak. Apparently, it was "like buttah" :)

About the photographer fee: we had to pay $190 total ($95 per person for a guest pass-the photographer and his assistant). It is better to do this than the vendor fee, which is $200, and your photographers won't be able to eat/drink. I asked to have this fee waived, but Ariadna wouldn't budge.

Hey ladies-

Have a question for those that did a symbolic ceremony at VIM.

I made the mistake of mentioning that we were not going to do the legal ceremony to my parents and they flipped out. I'm not quite sure what it's all about but to appease them I just said "we are doing the legal ceremony now."

So my question is if we still do the symbolic ceremony will the guest have any idea that it's not legal? Were there things that were done or said that alluded to it not being legal??

thanks so much!

I mentioned the same thing to my parents.. said that we would do all the paper work here before we go and then do the symbolic there.. they about flipped out, saying 'whats the point then?' and 'then why dont we just go down to city hall with you and not even go to Mexico'. Yeah, they are not hot on the idea of a destination wedding in the first place and for me to say that was like whoa!

I do not think there is an difference from what I read.

Ahollo-

Thanks for the email and also this response. I was beginning to think I was crazy. We WILL be doing the legal paper signing thing here before we leave and probably again a few weeks after Mexico in Germany with his family so it's not like we aren't going to get married.

We will consider Dec 11, the day we exchange vows on the beach to be our wedding day, regardless or not if it's legal "in Mexico."

I'm thinking what they don't know won't hurt them!
