Bands: Stainless Steel, Titanium, Platinum, White Gold?

Recommended Posts

HI., We almost got a white gold one-but come on-now with gold prices a men's ring in white gold with NO DIAMONDS was 499 and 599(the style he liked).

So we got a tungsten one. Its brushed looking with the edges smooth-it was around 170. Its awesome b/c my FI's "style" is not shiny and bright-and this one was a darker grey color-not as shiny as the gold. Its really nice looking on him!

I wonder if I should have bought one cheaper online or something?? Hmmmm...

Good luck shopping :)

No kidding! We origionally bought FI a white gold one... it was 600 + tax + the extended gold coverage, so just over 700 dollars.

We returned it, and bought him a ring that looks exactly the same, only in titanium, for $15! Including shipping!

i'd def. go w/ titanium or tungsten. i don't think either scratches. gold and platinum should be out - they'll get scratched too easily.
from what I've read I think its a myth too.

I read that tungsten & titanium are probably safer if someone's finger got crushed. Gold & platinum would bend & tungsten & titanium would stay in shape which would be safer for the finger.

And ERs can cut them off.

Some of the stuff I read was that jewelers probably tell people that because there is less money to be made off tungsten & titanium. Mike's ring came from the same website abbie posted. It's gorgeous & only cost $8.75. I'm sure the jewelry stores don't like that there is such an affordable option.

Also keep in mind that if you do something like titanium it cant be cut off his finger (in case something bad happens) with the Tungsten, the ring can be shattered if they have to get it off.

FI and I just ordered 2 wedding bands for him. We were looking on the tungstenworld site. Then I turned over the laptop to FI, aka Frugal Dave. He looked up tungsten rings on slickdeals.net and was directed to amazon.com. We got him 2 tungsten rings (one which looked exactly like the $149.99 one we were about to order) for $29.99 each.

And now he has 2 to choose from or a spare for when he loses one.

I will let you know how they are (and post pics) when they arrive.
