I think it depends on the airline. Most don't charge but lately with the fuel crisis they have been. I would contact your airline to be sure!

We flew Air Jamaica and the dress was hung in first class with no problem. There were a few wrinkles at the bottom of the dress, but they didn't show much. I tried to steam it in the bathroom, but it only helped a little. I will say that it was a bit of a chore walking through the airport with the garment bag, but I definitely wasn't going to check it going over!

We actually flew US Airways also and they hung it up in the closet no problem, the lady threatened to take it and where it, but besides that...no worries. I took on the dress and I had a bag and they didn't say anything about too many carry-ons. You will be fine. What I will suggest that whoever (between you and your FH) boards first, let them carry the dress on and hang it up so that it can get on the plane sooner just in case someone in front of you is doing the same thing. The closet is small but it's better than folding it.

I honestly don't think you would need to steam it because it is so hot and humid that it would steam itself. Or you can put it in the shower...

My flight company wouldnt let me bring my dress in a bag so they can hang it up in the plain. there are restict orders, or I needed to stuff it into a large suitcase, ( where is enough space for the dress ) but Im terrefide that I will loose my dress, so second and last option is I had to put it in my handcarriage.

I almost had a haertatack when I heard that, but I bought the largest size handcarriage permitted in the plain, and I went with this case to the store where I bought my Huge dress, They fold it in a special ways, and it fits perfect!!! I was so surprised,. Long time ago, it was very normal that bridal gowns were deliverd in boxes, so there are special ways to fauld your dress. Also you can keep in mind when buying a dress, choose fabric that can handle a little wrinkling. Mine does, because I specialy choose a spanisch tule dress, very light, and no problems with wrinkling. Good luck, everythig will be just fine. You'll see,

And only a few more days to go and you will have you wedding, Im sooo jaleous!, I hope You have a wonderfull time!!smile03.gif

I am flying SkyService and probably just have carry my dress on and stuff it in an overhead storage. The only problem with my dress is that it can't be steamed! Also, a little off topic, but apparently the RIU does not have irons in the rooms, you have to rent them from front desk?? Keep this in mind for the guys!!

I had absolutely no trouble traveling with my dress. No extra charges, and the flight attendants practically worshipped it every time I stepped on board. Even if you do have to fold it, the humidity gets any wrinkles out. All of our guests had irons in their rooms, even though the Riu info says there are none. No worries!

I actually am a flight attendant and have had numerous brides bring their dresses on board. Technically the FAA requires that all personal belongings are properly stowed including a wedding dress. Depending on your inflight crew depends on a lot, I would ask the gate agent to pre-board then ask your crew if there is anywhere you can stow your gown other than the over head bin. If worse comes to worse, wait to everyone is on-board then put your dress on top of their items for take off and landing and then you can hold it through out the flight. I always try hard to accommodate depending on the plane sometimes there is a big stowage closet for crew bags and with the permission of the captain I'll put something like that in there. One more piece of advice turn your gown inside out before traveling, just in case anything should happen. I have heard of one bride who went through security and TSA opened up her garment bag and patted the dress down but had ink on his gloves and left marks all over the dress!
