The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

It has been a little over three years since my now husband and I were married at Dreams Tulum. I can honestly say that it was the most beautiful and meaningful day of my life.  We were surrounded by family and friends and our day was perfect.  Landy was lots of help, (though at times sometimes hard to reach) she was able to help keep my stress level down.  Which as you know, when you are the bride this can be difficult.  We made most of our decisions for the ceremony location, reception location, menu, flowers ect before we arrived at Dreams.  My mom, my stepmom and I met with Landy the day we arrived to Dreams (2 days before the wedding) and locked everything in.  Destination weddings are the way to go and I would recommend Dreams Resorts to anyone thinking of going that route.  Specifically Dreams Tulum for allowing me to have the perfect wedding of my dreams.

Exactly 2 weeks until our wedding!  I'm getting excited!

Stupid question, I'm typing up our itineraries for our Welcome Bags and I realized I'm not 100% sure what time our cocktail hour and reception are.  The ceremony is at 5pm, so I'm thinking the cocktail hour is 530-630 then the reception starts sometime between 630-7.  Can anyone confirm?  Thanks!

Sorry for all the posts in one day, but above is the pre-departure letter I whipped together last night from bits and pieces of ones I found on here.  Since it's DT specific, I thought I would share with you.  PM me with your email address if you can't access it and I"ll send it along!  Enjoy!

Ladies, rest assured, your wedding will be perfect! Anabel is exceptional, everything was wonderful. We had the Ultimate package, we added nothing except rose petals for the flower girl to throw. We used the resort photographer and we are happy we did. If you want something more photojournalistic bring your own photographer, these are more functional, but still beautiful. Our memories are beautifully preserved. Teo was our photographer, very sweet guy.

My flowers were gorgeous, I loved them. Instead of one large centerpiece we had 2 smaller ones, also gorgeous. We had a total of 20 people, we sat at one long table on the beach and it was incredible. Here is a warning- we had initially planned on a poolside reception by the small pool. My husband found out the afternoon of the wedding that there was a huge Mexican fiesta at El Patio, right next to the pool. So we changed our plans to have the reception on the beach and we are so glad we did. It would have been really loud over by the pool. So check on what other activities are going on around your chosen venue. Our wedding was in the chapel and it was so gorgeous, I can't even tell you. The minister forgot to have us exchange rings and pronounced us husband and wife, and we corrected him, makes a funny story. I was disappointed because we asked him to do a family blessing as DH has a daughter, and he forgot to do that. He rambled on for quite a while with his sermon, but that's ok. You get what you get with this kind of thing.

My one warning, and great disappointment was that about half of my guests and I got a nasty GI bug. It seemed to hit after our welcome dinner at the World Cafe. Since we all ate different things, my best guess is the non- bottled water served at the restaurant. It hit different people with different strengths- I was pretty sick for most of the wedding day and couldn't eat any of our dinner at our reception, but everyone said it was good. No doctor's visits but lots of Pepto and Immodium was purchased. Just be careful and bring drugs.

Have a great wedding!!!

Thanks for the review!  It's so nice to hear that things went well.  Mine is 7/26-coming up very soon.  I had read on Tripadvisor that quite a few people are getting food poisoning recently, which makes me really nervous!  I've warned most of our guests just in case.

I'm glad to hear the chapel was beautiful, that's where ours will be too.  Did you have a civil or symbolic ceremony?  I'm trying to mentally prepare for the same minister, lol.

I'm surprised you had the reception outside.  I thought it would be much too hot for that so we are planning for a ballroom reception.  Was it pretty comfortable outside?
