The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

I am also renting out the Seaside Grill, fee and all. Yet she still said we can only have the silver or gold menu there. How did you finally get her to agree to the $20 menu? Was that through Aurora and about how long before the wedding? I just can't imagine spending that much on food, I might as well have gotten married at home! Really frustrating. I might have 100 guests so this will realllly hurt. Could you maybe email me the chain of your conversations and I could try a similar tactic?

I would also be interested in knowing how you got them to agree to the $20 menu.

I wanted to reserve tables up front for my guest on one of the theme nights- what night has the best entertainment? Here is the guide that was emailed to me...

Sunday -Fire Show

Monday -Hypnosis

Tuesday -Mexican Party

Wednesday -Enigma Show

Thursday -Malabarismo Show

Friday -Caribbean Show

Saturday -Capoeira Show

The other meal options may be a buffet type set up... Other than the Gold and Silver, I think Buffet is the only other option. Keep in mind that the extra fee isn't just for food... it is for dedicated waiters...who work like well oiled machines! No glass goes empty... your plates are brought and cleared quickly, and you hardly know they are there. They are awesome!

I brought up the $20 menu to Aurora over and over in emails but she wouldn't budge. The only other options she gave were the buffet, which she quoted at the same price (as the silver menu, $55) but the benefit would be more variety. We opted not to do the buffet because we figured guests would be eating buffet style food all week during their stay at the resort, but it's definitely a good option if you want more selection. Unfortunately the $20 menu was a no-go for us sad.gif

Centerpieces:

Is anyone ordering non-floral center pieces through the resort? I would like something like floating candles but cannot imagine bringing the vases over to Mexico with me. Did anyone do this and can you advise on the price?? Thanks!! :)

original question: we've hired an outside photographer who is bringing one assistant. We have to purchase half day passes for them. What is the etiquette around providing the photographers' meals? Do I need to pay $55/ pp (silver menu, more than 20 guests) for their meals and set a place for them at our table? or will they eat at the resort once done working since they can access the all inclusive amenties with the day pass?

thanks for the response, Cheri. I'm bumping this to see if anyone else has thoughts on the phtographers' meals? If I buy two 1/2 day passes for photographer and assistant, plus two wedding meals, that's almost $250 with tax and everything. Is it terrible etiquitte to assume that the photog will go eat somewhere on the resort, or do I really need to proivde them with the silver menu meal?

I have a suggestion...originally I had thought to go to the Walmart in Playa, but have since come up with another idea (wine glass luminaries - easier to transport than vases...). I'm sure they will have glass vases & candles for cheap. Whether or not this is practical will depend on how much time you have before the wedding.

Hey ladies!

So we're getting closer to booking a day but I just found out that all the 3:30 spots are taken already for that week! I can't believe, it's not till next may! So we might have to take a 5:00 spot. Has anyone gotten married in that time? Did you have enough time for pictures afterwards before it got dark?

Thanx!

Hi Sara,
I will be getting married at 5pm in 2 weeks (!!!! woohoo! lol) and the way i am getting around the light issue is doing all my photos prior to the ceremony. I am not sure how important it is for your partner not to see you until that exact moment of walking down the aisle but if it isn't (it wasn't to me), photo session prior to ceremony may be an option for you as well.
