The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

Hey gals!

Funny that the iPod discussion came out. I have been thinking of ditching the DJ idea and just using an iPod. I have about 35 people coming and the Dreams DJ is $150 and hour. If all he does is play the music (their DJ does not MC or make announcements), it makes sense to save the money, get an iPod going, and have a friend or relative MC the night.

What do you think? Does it sound good or should I keep the DJ?

Brooke, your wedding is right before mine! Good luck and I hope you have a great time....almost there!

Carina

Could you guys let me know, on average, what your guests paid per night at Dreams Tulum? Just looking for an estimation, so I know what my guests should expect. I know that the prices vary during the time, and obviously by year, but knowing what to expect would really help =) Thanks!

My guests are paying $150 per person per night for the Hacienda Garden View and $185 per night for the Junior Suite Dreams Garden View. I kept on my TA to get the resort to match the prices I was finding on discount websites and she was really great about negotiating with Sandra. I am really happy with the pricing. She also got the kids rate down to $35 per day although I pushed hard to get the kids for free. I used the resorts reservation system as a way to monitor pricing for the time of year. The resort is like airlines in the way that they will post the lowest price until so many people book and then it will go up. Check on that and use as a base price and then compare against other discount travel sites. Having a TA offers a huge advantage in my opinon.

so Tiffany gave the rate for shoulder season; when I went down this summer (off season) we paid $89/per person for the hacienda suite and $109/per person for the Dreams Junior Suite.

for our wedding in January (high season) our guests are paying $175/per person for the hacienda suite and $222/per person for the Dreams Junior Suite

I'm definitely going for just the iPod instead of a DJ. Ive heard that they don't do much and I'm ok with just having our iPod, I'd rather have music we pick and if I pick it and have the DJ play it, I will have done the hardest part!

Good luck on your wedding Carina! Mine is two months from today!

We do things a little different in Canada, in that we pay for our airfare, land transfer and hotel as a package. In total, our guests are paying $1726 (7 nights) to fly from Ottawa to Cancun the first week of May, and that includes transfer to and from the hotel. Children are paying just over $1000.

Just look into renting the speaker system (not really a system, just one speaker!) as I expect the ipod dock won't be loud enough for a good party.

Hello ladies,

I have been meaning to suggest applevacations to those who haven't booked yet. My FI and I usually use them for other vacations so we found a TA that had apple and did DW. We are getting married May 27 2009 at dreams and our total package with air and all transfers for the basic rooms per couple are 3116.00 That is for 7 nights and 8 days. Apple is great because our entire family will be flying a charter down together. They will be getting their own transportion to the resort with no stops in between. A handful of my guest will be flying back after 5 days but will also be on a charter and all these will be direct flights to Cancun and back to Ohio. Just thought I would put that out there! Happy Planning..... oh and the prices for the 5 night people were 1,126.00 per person.
