The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

Girls if anyone is interested in renting a screen and projector to show a slideshow I have received the contact info from Anabel. We are showing a DVD picture slideshow that my FSIL is making for us and surprising my fiance at the rehearsal dinner. I hadn't found this on here so I thought someone else might be interested.

This vendor works exclusively with Dreams Tulum. I am bringing the projector from the states and renting the screen from them.

So as the date gets closer and closer I find myself with more and more questions and it is annoying!

So my first question is, most of my guests are coming down on Thursday-how did everyone plan dinner? I mean-I am guessing that you can't have dinner with more than 2 other couples right? Does everyone just do their own things?

The other question is, so far we have 30 confirmed guests and I wanted to do the wine cellar at portofino but I am getting worried because we have more than 25-what did everyone else do for the rehearsal/welcome dinner?

The last question(i have too much time on my hands) is, future husband and a bunch of his friends are going fishing both Thursday and Friday-if they catch something can the resort make it for us? I wonder how that workshuh.gif

Sorry for all the questions-hopefully someone will know some of the answers :)

Hi girls.

My new husband and I just returned from Dreams on Saturday and everything was wonderful! I met Tracy down there and I have to agree with her; no one should worry or stress out too much over anything! Landy and Anabel are great and will go over each detail with all of you when you arrive.

I wasn't able to do a planning thread before I left because I was too busy with work and last minute details, but I think I'd still like to post one. I drew a lot of thought and inspiration from the ladies on this forum and brides to be might appreciate having more examples of those things.

I'll try to do my review in the next week! Thanks to everyone for all of the helpful information and answers to my questions.

Blkatz, we were going to have our rehearsal dinner at World Cafe (buffet restaurant) cause there is no service charge per head over 10 people. It just happened to be closed that evening because of a Mexican fiesta with a buffet in the entertainment area next to El Patio. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise b/c Landy reserved 45 seats for us at the fiesta. The guests had tons of fun b/c there was entertainment and TONS of Mexican food surrounding the tables. The only thing some brides might not like is that there would be about 300 other people there--not at all private. If there is a fiesta buffet on your rehearsal night, I would definitely recommend that for your dinner! Otherwise, the world cafe would work with no additional charges.

Welcome home Lauren!!! Hope the rest of your week was wonderful; it was really great to meet you!

Can't wait to see your pics!

Blkatz, I agree with Lauren, the world cafe worked out perfect for our welcome dinner & it was free! Such a bonus if it lands on the Mexican fiesta night (lucky you Lauren!!), it was such a fun night!!

We had 25 people come down and we pretty much split our time with everyone.. one night we had dinner with our parents, next with friends (11 of us at the french restaurant), then one night with uncles & aunts.. we managed to have dinner at least once with all of the guests before the wedding (besides welcome dinner). And you will be amazed at how easy going your guests will be.. they'll just be happy to be there! The other thing we did was in the welcome package we noted that we would be in the lounge every night at 9pm if anyone wanted to come by for drinks... this was a big hit - those we didn't see during the day we ended up seeing for a drink at night.

We had our reception in wine cellar Portofino's and it was amazing.. our waiters rocked and made it so much fun. We brought our ipod and speakers and were able to have our first dance after dinner..

not sure about the fish thing.. hopefully someone can answer that for you!

When my parents did a site visit last year they talked to Sandy about having the rehearsal dinner/welcome party on the beach as a private event. Since my dad and the guys are going fishing that Friday, they were going to incorporate any fish they caught into the dinner. At the time, Dreams had agreed to do a beach bbq with grills on the beach, etc, cooking the fish (supplemented of course, just in case, hahaha) and also having a grill of chicken and steak, and then buffett of side dishes. We are awaiting a response from Landy if this will still be possible... Good luck!

Wow-that is super cool! I hope that we can do that also! I wonder what they are going to charge you for that.
I emailed Carlos who is the new concierge about it and I am waiting to hear back from him. I will keep you posted about it.

Does anyone know if they do the same activities week after week? Meaning, Mondays are beach bbq night, tuesday fire dancers, wed...(you get the idea, and Im running out of examples..haha!) If I could figure that out it would be really helpful when planning out the week. We are getting married on a Tuesday, our rehearsal is on Monday night and I was just wondering what activities we may have to work with. Thanks everyone!!

Yeah definetly keep me up to date, I know we are still waiting for a response from someone in the wedding department. Don't quote me on this, but I seem to remember my parents saying that it was $20 per person plus the private event fee ($750). Like I said, I am not positive, but for some reason that is sticking in my head. I will check with my mom to be sure!
