Excellence Riviera Cancun Brides!

Recommended Posts

There had been some conversation about reception dinner at the Excellence in the Playa Mujeres thread with some varying answers, so I emailed Veronica at Excellence Riviera Cancun to clarify.

At ERC, the sit down dinner is 3 hours, open bar included, and you can give your guests two main plate options.

I also asked if it would be possible to reserve seats at dinner for our guests the night before at one of the restaurants. I'm not really looking for private, just together. She said the only restaurant where we could do this is at Agave, and it's closed on Fridays. My wedding is on Saturday so I guess I'll need to find a plan B for a welcome dinner. frown.gif Maybe Thursday if guests arrive by then.

Hi,

I read that the dinner reception is only three hours. Is anyone using the dj because his packages are for four hours? I was under the impression that the reception could be longer, but now I am starting to get a little worried. Ahhh!I guess I will email her again.

If anyone has done any more planning I would love to hear from you. I feel like I haven't done to much, but I did get my dress! That was exciting. Now I'm moving on to looking for centerpieces and flowers!

Jen,

This is what I had asked, and she had responded in CAPS:

"What time do wedding receptions have to end by at night? THE DINNER IS

FOR 3 HOURS."

I'm going to email her back to clarify. Maybe the music and dancing can go on for longer, but the dinner staff is only there for 3 hours? I had asked because I had heard other resorts require weddings to end early due to noise.

BTW, have you heard any reviews about the DJ at ERC?

Hi,

Thanks for responding. I hope that is the case and the dancing can go on longer.

They use PSAV for their dj services. I have read only one review that I could find. It said that they were decent. We are doing the four hours for the dinner and dancing. It includes a live dj, microphone and whatever music we would like them to play for about $800. I have contacted the company and he said I could send them a list of songs and announcements that I would like made. The wc prefers that you go with this company because it is who they have a contract with. I may also bring my ipod just in case because you never know!!!

Thanks,

Jen

Mine is at 5:00pm too. I don't really know how it works. I'm just assuming the cocktail hour comes right after with the dinner reception right after that. Does ceremony at 5:00pm, cocktail hour from 5:30-6:30pm, then dinner at like 6:45 or 7 seem about right?

  • 1 month later...

Has anyone heard from Veronica lately? I emailed her last week just to touch base, telling her that my save the dates have been sent out, my photographer is booked, and we are just waiting for flight info to come out at the end of the month so we can book our trip.

I still haven't heard back from her. I wasn't really asking her for a response, but I guess I was just hoping to hear back for validation. She had reassured me about a month ago that our wedding date (10.24.09) was saved at ERC and just to let her know when we actually book.

Maybe I'm just being silly and working myself up over nothing, which I tend to do a lot. :)

Hi,

I heard from Vernonica two days ago. It took her a little while to respond to me, but she did apologize. I get so worked up too!

I also just wanted to share a few things with everyone. I was concerned about centerpieces and being able to add stuff like candles ect. and she said that we are able to ship stuff down ahead of time. I am not sure if this will turn out to be cheaper, but with all of my luggage and the new bag fees I thought I would look into it. Also I was told that the chairs for the bows are $5 a piece and if you want any other color linens besides white there is a fee.

Does anyone know if the symbolic ceremony has all traditional vows and ring exchange? I think we are going to get married ahead of time because the blood thing freaks me out. Are people telling their guests that it is not a legal ceremony?

Thanks for everyones help! Happy planning!
